I worked at Carnival full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Travel, experiences, party, new friends, guest privileges.

    Cons

Photographers have very long working hours everyday, a lot of sales pushing, ridiculous targets to achieve bonus, very routinary job.. guests end up hating you. Working in Carnival is really cool, just not as a photographer.

    Advice to Management

Please remove the stupid system of printing pictures, we live in a digital world now and is not environmentally good to waste tons of paper every cruise.

I have been working at Carnival as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Shipboard positions are fed, uniformed and accommodated by the company. You have the opportunity to visit amazing places in the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska and sometimes the Mediterranean. Shiplife can prepare you for the real world and it is possible to save money during your contract to start a life on land.

    Cons

Shipboard life is not easy and takes over your life completely. You will be gone from 4-10 months at a time and your assignments are typically chosen by shore side. The pay is relatively lower and it is easy to spend your money at the crew bar and out in port, so saving money can be tough. Relationship success on board is tough and your reputation is heavily connected to your professional career.

    Advice to Management

The upper management for the company can get overwhelmed at times but the best managers trust their team members and train them properly giving them the necessary information and tools to succeed.
