I worked at Carnival full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friends
    Ports
    Ability to Save Money
    Vacation Time

    Cons

No 401K with less than 10 years in the company
    Health Care is AWFUL
    Food

    Advice to Management

Promote people who actually work hard, and care, versus those who brown nose to the top. Adversely, fire those people who clearly are terrible at their jobs, don't care, don't follow rules, and stop giving them a million chances

I have been working at Carnival full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stability, company benefits, peaceful professional environment. Company perks offered every once in a while to employees like free lunch/ship tours as well as seasonal company souvenirs.

    Cons

Limited advancement opportunities, non competitive salaries with very low raises and even less possibility to count on solid vacation plans even if requesting a whole year in advance. Schedule changes every 6months and it isn't always as fair to your performance achievements but truly based more on seniority.

I have been working at Carnival full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only pros are free accommodation and no bills to pay, other than that is much like a jail.

    Cons

Guest services department is constantly under budget, ships have huge technical issues and guests are rude however sometimes are right to complaint. As guest services, schedule is officially 8h per day with no day off for 8 months, but you are always required to work much more: on average as GSA you work at least 10 to 12 hours per day. Salary is too low.

    Advice to Management

It should change the approach towards employees, making them feel as an asset and not slaves.

    Cons

Modest pay, small living quarters, long hours.

    Advice to Management

Recruitment team goes out of their way to make orientation program both informative and fun.

    Pros

Supportive, paid training; Available overtime earning opportunities; INCREDIBLE PEOPLE TO WORK WITH....great energy and ethics; work from home opportunities

    Cons

365/24hr customer service means "new kid on the block" has to EARN better bid position, so awarded shifts may be unworkable.....

    Advice to Management

    ....create additional "day shifts"?!?

I worked at Carnival full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great money if you work 60 plus hours a week.

    Cons

Management within the Carnival structure watch out for themselves and don't particularly care about you except to boost their own pay structure. The more cruises you sell, the more they make. NO LIFE outside of work. 60 plus hours a week (Not paid for OT hours and hourly wage is minimum wage) is required if you want to make a decent commission. During wave season count on 70 plus hours a week. If you're a newer PVP, you work your butt off while the old timers rake in the commissions, the better leads. Out of my incoming classes 4 yrs ago, only 7 people remain. Management has ice in their veins. They DO NOT CARE whatsoever about you, unless you're in their circle.

    Advice to Management

Give a damn about your employees who are start ups. Try actually recognizing their accomplishments. Actually care what happens to them.

    Pros

    Good benefits!
    Cruise access and perks!
    Good workload!

    Cons

Delayed insurance coverage for 3 months after being employed (you must use COBRA no matter what).
    Poor 401k matching.

    Advice to Management

Start covering health insurance for employees at least for the next month of the employment.

I worked at Carnival full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is going through significant changes (organizational, focus, market strategy) since the new CEO took place a few years ago. The best years of this highly successful company are still ahead. Workplace is fine, good environment, and offers good benefits. Financials are very strong.

    Cons

Pay is a bit lower than market and there is some turmoil due to some re-organizations.

I worked at Carnival full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Travel, free room and board and food, great people you meet from all over

    Cons

low pay, 55+ hrs a week and no days off, don't always get to see ports, little communication with home due to middle of water and resources that are available.

    Advice to Management

don't charge internet for workers who are far from home and missing time with family for 6+mo at a time. Pay according to experience so for some you owe a lot more for all of the extra hours you overwork us.
