      Dead end job

Dec 6, 2019 - Personal Vacation Planner in Miramar, FL

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Paid training, uncapped commission, paid sick days and paid vacation. Discounted cruises

      Cons

No pay for work beyond 40 hours. Limited opportunities for advancement. No interest in developing their employees. The company as a whole operates on the edge between what is legal and what is not legal. Because the management team in insulated from other perspectives, there is little hope for change at CCL.

      Pros

The job in itsealf is very easy. People are calling in to cancel their cruise, get information, make payments ect. You do get 20% off cruises

      Cons

You rarely get someone calling in whos happy. The system went down a lot. Very fast paced.

They don't know what work/life balance means

      Pros

Free cruises... that's all I can say about this job

      Cons

It's terribly managed! You're expected to work 7 days a week, if you don't come in on the weekends, you are threatened and shamed, and if you need to leave an hour early for a doctors appointment, they will throw it back in your face. Don't forget to make sure that hour gets logged as PTO time! They think your role in life is to work for them ONLY. If you have a family, well, you better hope you have someone who can take care of them because you will never see them. You would think that compensation is worth this hassle... but I can assure you, it is NOT. There's not a month that goes by that on the last week the VP is threatening everyone with termination, guilting employees to work 100 hours to make the numbers. But the kicker... the awards ceremony. Not only a complete waste of money and resources, but employees are FORCED to go. Even if you have a pressing appointment or a vacation planned, you are threatened with termination if you don't go to this fake recognition show.

Great culture, management is amazing. The pay not worth all the hours.

      Pros

good benefits, discounts in cruises, Empire team has the best management in the building. Fun place, great environment.

      Cons

Although you can make great money, once you averaged your incentives by the amount of hours worked, it's really not that great. I was an above average PVP, and had to work very long hours to make a great paycheck. Sometimes around 70-80 hours per week. Fee cruises they give the employees are almost impossible to get, I was there for 2 years and applied several times and I was never able to get on-board.

      Pros

Ability to make $$$$, free cruises, healthcare (it's not the greatest but at least it's there), great cafe, awesome coworkers, training is very helpful

      Cons

Let me first say that I meet my quotas/metrics every month. To me, the company takes advantage of PVPs. We do so much yet make around $16k a year for our base pay, so you really do make all of your money with bookings. For all the overtime (and there will be HOURS upon hours of overtime), we don't even get paid for it. Expect to work 50ish hours a week during non-wave months and 65-80 hours during wave. If you don't stay after working hours, the coaches/managers love to give you a guilt trip during the daily meetings. A few other things that aren't a big deal but would be nice to have is giving the Miramar location the same perks employees receive at the Doral office. We are the ones making the company money, yet we lack an onsite nurse, gym, childcare, etc.

      Pros

You get to go on cruises, meet new people and co-workers and some manahers

      Cons

Some manager shouldn't be leaders without the proper training, work ethic and right attitude! If you can't handle the heat; get out of the kitchen!
