I worked at Carol Fox & Associates as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really loved how fun it was working here. As a non-paid intern I did A LOT of work for them but I got to see the real working world of PR - pitching media, writing press releases and copy, working events, making press kits. It was my favorite internship. Working directly under the account executive and the VP, I was able to really grow! Their clients are legit and you will get to go to/work at some of the hottest parties and shows in Chicago.

    Cons

Small in almost all ways except clients... the office is small and there aren't that many employees but the work load is large... If you hate being bored at work and you love the entertainment industry then this may be your place. Also, the office is kind of farther north off the brown line (Southport stop.)

I worked at Carol Fox & Associates (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great local clients and strong leadership from a respected woman in the industry.

    Cons

Primarily local clients, very low pay, not a ton of advancement, no overtime, very high turnover. You definitely have to fit in a mold here.

I worked at Carol Fox & Associates as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

A good place to work if you enjoy arts & entertainment 24/7. Does all kind of marketing and public relations work for lots of clients.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for career growth if you're at an intern/lower level position. Management has a sink or swim attitude, and piles on work.

    Advice to Management

Try to create a better work-life balance and more opportunities for employees who work hard to move up.

I worked at Carol Fox & Associates full-time

    Pros

Great for anyone who is genuinely passionate about the performing arts industry.
Clients were much less demanding than at other agencies I've worked at (albeit, their budgets were much smaller, too)
There is no billing! SO weird. Never heard of an agency that doesn't track employees' time in order to bill their clients...

    Cons

Not great pay at all. No real processes in place...which resulted in communication mishaps b/w management and assistants, etc. The president was a very nice person but extremely hands off. I was also disappointed in the lack of creativity, given this is an agency dedicated to one of the most creative industries.

    Advice to Management

Implement a bit of process and structure please. Get your teammates together for in depth brainstorms.

    Pros

Interesting niche in arts and entertainment
Great opportunity for entry-level to get hands-on with neat clients
Overall, very sweet colleagues and clients

    Cons

Not the best communication b/w higher mgmt and assistants
Well below average pay for those at the bottom
Should be more creative of an environment
