    Pros

Ok pay. Most managers care a lot about the employees (depending on supervisor) IF you are not lazy, and do a good job, upper management will listen to you.

    Cons

    A very strict attendance policy

    Pros

Easy to move around within the system (change job titles or location).

    Cons

Horrible health insurance, so benefits aren't great.
Hard to get a job unless you know someone within the system.

    Pros

Education assistance is cool. You have to pay for training upfront but will get reimbursed for up to $1500 depending on how long you have been with the company. Some of your coworkers can become family.

    Cons

Leadership is poor. They have a lot of dumb people in high places. Supervisors and Managers who gossip and play favoritism. The pay is horrible

    Advice to Management

Speak to your people on the front lines (ie. nurses, psychiatric technicians and social workers). Ask for their input when making decisions regarding changes that will effect their work.

I worked at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some nice and fantastic people work here.

    Cons

This company owns the for-profit insurance company, Medcost, which provides the employee benefit. You get only one selection, a High Deductible Health Plan, that is very expensive and requires employees to use its own facilities and doctors. Basically, don't ever get sick if you work here.

Positions are left vacant for too long, some never get filled.

Unless you know someone, you will most likely not get a job here. Even if you do know someone, you will still have to wait months to get in.

Grandfathered employees have better benefits than newer employees.

    Advice to Management

The problem with downsizing via attrition is the good people are the ones who leave (when they find a better job) and the company is left with the...less good ones.

I worked at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits for those that are grandfathered.

    Cons

Higher ups have little to no understanding of direct pt care. Only care about the numbers. Leaders on paper only

    Advice to Management

People leave management not companies. Treat the teammates well and in turn they will take care of the patients.

I have been working at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time

    Pros

#1 hospital in the SE US, level one trauma unit, upper management cares for its employees, great physician to employee contact

    Cons

poor onboarding, PTO must be used for holiday pay, "salary" is a loosely defined position - hours are counted

    Advice to Management

before someone is precepted, ensure that the preceptor is a good teacher.

I have been working at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

PTO, Good Benefits (i.e. employee medical insurance=$12/pay period-w/no kids, 401k match, cheap dental & vision=$5-7), Holidays off (depending your location), friendly/peppy staff, point system=receiving points to buy stuff from company/employee site (i.e 300 points=bag/coffee maker/etc.)

    Cons

Management attempts to delegate unpaid activities (i.e Huddles/meetings/pulling the weight of others-->supervisory work*) if you start leading activities then choose to stop, you'll be penalized. Your volunteer effort becomes a mandatory task. The company has its own Health Insurance called Medcost. so if you get insurance, you're basically paying the company back. Medcost is cheap for employees but expensive if you have kids (adds on about $115 for children) however, the more kids you have the better deal (same price for having 1 child or 4). Another Con, overly peppy employees & somewhat prying.
