Health insurance is owned by the hospital and that is the only choice of insurance you have. Low pay scale. Human resources takes a long time to respond. Credentialsing loses documents. No specific sick days. Poor maternity leave package

I worked at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Opportunities to make extra money

    Cons

Long shifts, short lunches, no work/life balance, inconsistent, constantly adding to work pile without increasing pay, high turnover, the managers have no idea what you actually do and can therefore never actually assist you with anything. They are just there to monitor your bathroom breaks.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, if they are complaining remember that they are your employees just as much as the managers are. They shouldn't automatically be the ones you look to protect.

    Pros

Friendly, salary is competitive, seems to care about the community

The healthcare isn't the best, we have a high deductible plan. Focus seems to be on numbers and HCAHPS scores instead of the patients.

I have been working at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love working with the doctors I work with. The hours are great.

    Cons

The pay range scale is bogus. You're not paid your worth. (This seems to be the norm most places)

    Advice to Management

If you worked for 10 years but only made $2.00 more than the day you started with the company how would you feel?

I have been working at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Well managed to stay competitive. Organization expanding and have not had lay offs, unlike others in the area. Progressive quality and change management.

    Cons

Huge organization, can be political, excellent for advancement if your a man, good if your a woman.

    Advice to Management

Fix our benefits. Horrible insurance coverage. Terrible HR department both in recruitment and supporting administrative needs. Education monies are delayed months. Give those budgets to the department heads, so they can pay out and wait for reimbursement. You say you want people to further their education, but have no differential for those degrees. Huge difference in the way men are promoted and compensated.

    Pros

I am proud I worked for CHS.

    Cons

Watch your "leadership" and their personal wants.

    Advice to Management

There should be checks and balances on your "leadership" before they end an employee's long, long term successful employment.
