I worked at Carowinds part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The best thing was the hourly pay. Also, some supervisors were really great. And the training was pretty efficient.

    Cons

The company lied about benefits. You have no prior knowledge of what time you get off work. Only some of the supervisors were good and reliable. Stressful. Every day was different. Also, the company blames a lot of stuff on you. Especially when you go to HR about your concerns, "It's your fault".

    I worked at Carowinds

    Pros

Free park admission/ parking Discounts on food and merchandise Free admission tickets for family/ friends Opportunity for lots of hours Easy summer job

    Cons

Minimum Wage Younger co-workers (mostly high school aged) Certain policies (females can't carry toiletry bags into the park even if on their monthly, not allowed to have any drink other than water in PERSONAL water bottle, forced breaks) Scheduling conflicts (Managers ask for updated school schedule and don't schedule accordingly) Employee Write-ups (Request vacation time and are told that you don't have to come...

    Advice to Management

May more attention to scheduling details Watch the way you speak to employees (not everyone likes being treated like they're 15)

I have been working at Carowinds part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You generally work with good people.

    Cons

You may work with good people, but you also work with young people, high school age, who are immature & are usually only looking for a paycheck. Training is intensive - for 1 day - and you're expected to remember it all when you come back in 2-3 weeks when you actually start work. You have to deal with some of the worst of the general public, often telling full-grown adults why they have to follow the same rules as...

    Advice to Management

Better training. Make the website less confusing/more specific/close loopholes.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Carowinds full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's easy They work with your schedule - somewhat Nice associates for the most part

    Cons

Very low pay - I got minimum wage in Admissions Gets very boring very quickly - you'll be counting down the minutes right when you get there Aggravated customers ALL THE TIME Poor management and structure - they don't trust you AT ALL

    Advice to Management

Please trust your employees more and stop slapping their hand every time a customer messes up, not the employee Please pay your employees more - minimum wage isn't cutting what I have to deal with every day Please make the structure more transparent and stop treating us like infants who need a parent behind their back 24/7

I worked at Carowinds part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working for the company did not present any "Pros", however I did find my fellow associates to be very friendly. Friendly associates allowed for good working relationships that helped make the job a little better.

    Cons

Cedar Fair has many cons... 1.) No benefits for employees were offered, no paid holidays, no paid sick days, 401 K, and insurance. 2.) Poorly trained management and supervisors. Most of the time the supervisors held a "cocky" attitude and demonstrated the belief that they were "better" than the rest of the employees. When a problem arose with a customer in a certain area, supervisors would send the customer to another...

    Advice to Management

Better train supervisors and hire supervisors who have had experiance in the field. Young teenagers do not work well as supervisors, especially if they have not had experiance in the job before.
