I worked at Carroll University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits... Vacation, 401k match, HSA contriutions by employer.

    Cons

Managers... Promoted due to length of time not skill. High turnover. Faculty seem entitled. All about getting students enrollment numbers. Expect people to ' volunteer'.

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff. Watch turnover trends.

I have been working at Carroll University (More than a year)

    Pros

    Jobs' availability, nice students.

    Cons

Disrespect for employees, supervisor will not help you, you are way overworked for extremely poor pay. Job assignment poorly organized. The teachers are mostly adjuncts, which the school could not function without. But they treat adjuncts as expendable.

    Advice to Management

Ask for feedback from employees and use it. Find out what is really going on with instructors, as upper management has little idea. Apply Christian principles in the workplace. After all, your institution was founded with a church affiliation.

I have been working at Carroll University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Being a resident assistant on campus gives you the opportunity to take control and learn on the go at Carroll University. Staffs change from year to year and you may get a new boss but how fast you form bonds with your staff members and build relationships is a great thing. The Area Directors give you more freedom of how you use your time which is great being college students and having changing schedules all the time.

    Cons

There should be better lines of communication between the Area Directors and the Resident Assistants. There were times where you needed information as fast as possible and you'd get nothing for a few hours and when the time came and have been talked to there was no need anymore.

I worked at Carroll University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very manageable with a full course load and social time, very satisfying to work with students, set your own hours

    Cons

Very consistent paperwork with very little satisfaction in doing it, can't work other jobs simultaneously due to student worker limitations

    Advice to Management

Set up what each employee actually needs in terms of meetings and paperwork - one size does not fit all
