I have been working at Carter Lumber full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Cons

Sometimes required to work on weekend not Saturdays, management have stinky attitude sometimes decided being pushy you, long hours 10 hours per day and short breaks and half hour lunch.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and show more positive attitude and respect and treat your employees properly

I worked at Carter Lumber full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Discount on products, if you can use them

    Cons

Management will throw you under the bus to save their own skins or if you inadvertently bring negative attention to them from higher up. Training was the single most hostile experience I ever encountered. They profess to be 'Christians' on social networks but will viciously kick you in the teeth if you cross them, even if you do so inadvertently.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk. Just because you are condoning something that is against company policy, you don't fire the person who inadvertently mentions it to another party. Grow a pair, take responsibility for YOUR actions and fix it. That is the mark of a good and effective manager. Stuff rolls downhill.

I have been working at Carter Lumber full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

As a OSR they did provide gas card and vehicle allowance. Large company with multiple locations to work from.

      Cons

No loyalty, bad management and very top heavy. They lean on lower level people and middle management gets paid very well. Fire people as soon as they under perform.

      Advice to Management

Start listening to some of your workers. Be a little more openminded to some change and treat them better. They have a lot of solutions to issues the company has if you would hear them out.

I have been working at Carter Lumber full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Good company, great guys, new equipment. Opportunity to grow within.

      Cons

Not to many cons. Micromanaged a little. Even when it's slow you work 50+ hours a week. Pay could be better but it's still nothing to complain about.

      Advice to Management

Keep on keepin on. Management in the store I directly work in isn't bad I have no recommendations to offer.

I worked at Carter Lumber for more than a year

      Pros

Plenty of hours, something new everyday, got to interact with people on job sites.

      Cons

Low pay, they never give raises, and they work you like a dog. They expect you to do jobs that would take 3 workers by yourself. The management is terrible, and are very rude. They are your best friend until you decide to pursue other job opportunities.
