    I worked at Carter's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount, opportunity for personal growth

    Cons

Petty company culture, management is out for each other, glass ceiling in movement.

    Advice to Management

If you're not happy in your job, find a new one. It made it very difficult to do my job as an assistant manager, while other management and supervisors were constantly creating drama and stabbing each other in the back. Oh, yeah, and it's never appropriate for a supervisor to be romantically involved with an associate.

    Pros

You will improve your time management, training techniques, and coaching style in order to survive this job. Freight is mostly reasonably orgabized. Also the Osh Kosh product is good quality.

    Cons

Payroll is atrocious and you will rarely work 40 hours. I advise that no one work here unless you are friends with upper management, then you will be allowed to advance to store manager and get away with everything... including calling out and averaging 30 hours of work in store per week. Upper management supports decisions to lie and manipulate the staff (especially with cutting hours so you have to use PTO to fill your paychecks and then can't take time off), which brings down morale and has cost the team a lot of decent people making the ASMs job more difficult. Excessive paperwork, checklists, and micromanagement that is wasteful of payroll and paper.

    Advice to Management

Quit. No one should work here.
Make the company more efficient and lean.
Actually talk to employees straight on about conflict or difficult conversations, rather than avoid them and causing more drama.

    Pros

Awesome customer base. Meet new and expecting parents which was fun. Great quality clothing. New merchandise weekly

    Cons

Management was not fully trained, only follow policies that they didn't break, no company support system through district or regional managers. Have their favorites.

    Advice to Management

Train your employees. They are the key to success. Not the manager that sits in the office on pintrest or facebook.

    I worked at Carter's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic pay and started out with 3 weeks off. Also, Christmas time of the year is their slow time of the year, so we got 3 days off the week of Christmas with a paid holiday.

    Cons

Too many tasks a compared to the amount of hours allocated, this is a problem with all retailers but Carter's was by far the worst. The do the new product sets during business hours, which make focusing on the customer hard. They are WAY behind on technology, there was never a day where I didn't have a tech issue. It was very obvious the most of the companies money went back into the distribution, because they make more money selling to other retailers than the money they make from their own stores

    Advice to Management

Management always varies and I moved to their with a manager I have known for years. The company as a whole needs to streamline the way they do business

    I worked at Carter's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great compensation and benefits. Enjoyable work environment. No store credit line to push. Cute baby clothes to sell. many families to meet. great source of learning in my retail journey

    Cons

unpredictable work load. constantly changing policy. poor work/life balance. expected to do a lot with so little. overall like with most retail the experience is what you make of it.

    Advice to Management

listen to your store employees they are the work force compensation is great but many times we feel like our voices are not listened to we make them heard but no ones is listening.
