I have been working at Casa Systems full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This company is like a family. Lucy Xie, SVP of Operations, is extremely pleasant and personable, setting the tone of a happy work environment. "Fostering a Happy Place to Work" is one of the company values and is alive. We had the 2019 Family Outing last month. The CEO thanked the families for their support, demonstrating his understanding of the demanding nature of work and the need for family support. The... most expensive option of the venue was chosen. Highlights: lobsters, open bar, ice cream buffet, etc. The company could have gone cheap but did not. Employee birthdays are celebrated with fancy cakes & significant gifts. The company could go cheap but does not. Christmas gift baskets with cheese, wine, snacks, etc. for each employee. Special Christmas / Holiday lunch in addition to the Friday lunches. There are fun activities during the year for employees to mingle outside of projects, such as ping pong tournament, volley ball tournament, Halloween costume contest and parade, sports trivia, ugly sweater contest, crazy shirt contest, ice cream social, donut day, lawn games, badminton, etc. The company gives out T-shirts and backpacks as employee appreciation gifts. HR also hosts personal financial management workshops. We just had one on Social Security and Medicare. It feels like that the company is exploring all avenues to take care of the employees and to express appreciation to them. The IT department is very responsive in providing gears and fixing problems. Often, the time for a ticket to get resolved here is shorter than the time for a ticket to get routed to the correct person in a big company. They are very good in working with users, understanding their needs and providing solutions. The IT department is agile and accommodating. The company also has a small, yet very outstanding Lab Management team. The Andover headquarter is a well maintained facility with beautiful landscape at the front entrance. The Facility Manager is very responsive to requests. The person who stocks the kitchens with goodies and manages the Friday free lunch is very amiable. She runs the floors with supplies and is like a moving sunshine brightening up people's day throughout the entire building. The CTO is brilliant. I heard of how smart and knowledgeable he was before I joined the company. Working with him is an enriching experience. There are other brilliant minds, leading the way to cutting edge technologies. Most people also have a good sense of humor, generating a lot of positive energy. The company has flexible and practical processes. The processes provide order and yet are flexible enough to accommodate the rapidly changing business demands and environment. I have not seen any counter-productive processes in this company so far. Resources to do one's job is not necessarily being fed to one but are within reach. Probably due to the small size of the company, one gets the opportunities to work in different areas of a project, promoting personal and professional growth. The company is expanding via organic growth and acquisitions. I expect the future to be challenging, exciting and rewarding.

    Cons

    There are some abrasive individuals.

    Advice to Management

Continue to lead the company with passion and drive. Continue the all hands meetings to share your insights and thoughts. Hire people for cultural fit. Make sure that the candidates understand and appreciate the company's operating paradigm before offering them a position. It's a disservice to both the new hire and the company when it does not fit.

I have been working at Casa Systems full-time for less than a year

    Pros

nice benefits, chance to work on cutting edge technologies, good work environment, smart dedicated colleagues

    Cons

For a smaller company, I expected it to be much more efficient than what I have seen in Casa.

I worked at Casa Systems full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good benefits but that is all.

    Cons

A long list, but all and all it comes down from management and individuals in the leadership role. Started from the offer negotiation; Human Resources was very rigid and anal with their offer and agreement while the number was really the lowest number on the range. I should have seen that as the very first sign of their ridiculous non-negotiable rigid set of mind. High turnover rate which was responded by the... management as "They were not a good fit" and they were actually great (and very smart) employees! Zero flexibility on time-off, no remote policy, managers are too scared to give flexibility to their staff. Everyone is encouraged to just do the work and not sharing any ideas. Lead by fear, arrogant management, rigid, overall not an ideal environment if you're looking for work-life balance. There is really no use going to HR to address any employment related problems since they are there to shield the management from knowing what is going on with their employees.

    Advice to Management

Spend time to really get to know what is going on. Employees don't just leave for no reason. Talk and listen to your employees about how your managers are treating their staff.

I worked at Casa Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Intelligent co-workers, good benefits, free food on Fridays (but you better like Chinese, which I don't)

    Cons

Everything else! No flexibility, afraid to even take time off for a doctor's appointment. Working from home is frowned upon even in bad weather and dangerous driving conditions. The CEO is a micro-manager who has made some very bad decision and manages out of fear. Too many other nicer places to work that will appreciate and trust you.

    Advice to Management

This is 2019 not 1990! Trust your employees and give them some flexibility. The results make astound you! Also, the CEO needs to be replaced. He sets the tone and it's not a healthy one.

I worked at Casa Systems full-time

    Pros

Pay is good, benefits are good. There are some nice people there.

    Cons

Check out the stock price history, including insider trades, shareholder lawsuit and patent infringement lawsuits before you join. It is all public information. The core business is drying up, so watch for ever more erratic behavior from a seriously misguided management team. If you do join, you may feel like taking a good hot shower when you finally leave.

    Advice to Management

Ethics, empathy, earnings. See? They do go together.

I worked at Casa Systems full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Casa Systems has good benefits. PTO is fair. Free food every Friday - Chinese, Italian, Indian, boxed lunches, etc.

    Cons

There is NO flexibility. The management team is difficult. There is no growth opportunities, you are basically stuck at the point of when you start with Casa.

    Advice to Management

Build a positive environment. Start thinking outside of the box and allow people to grow. The current employees you have will create a better success for the future and the way you are handling everything currently will not keep the good employees long. Employees are going to help you thrive and they want to be acknowledged for all there hard work. Listen to them!
