I worked at Cascades Tissue Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Canadian based so they treat their employees with dignity and respect. They make it known that the employees are the key to success. Huge rapidly growing business with tons of opportunity to advance. This is also the safest company I have ever worked for.

    Cons

The hours kind of sucked, but that's just the way factory work is.

    Advice to Management

None, you are doing a great job!

I have been working at Cascades Tissue Group full-time

    Pros

    It is a pay check.

    Cons

Management and personnel issues make for a challenging work environment; as if the 12 hour shifts and the rotation between day and night shift weren't enough.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees on the manufacturing floor as valued team members.

I worked at Cascades Tissue Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good dental benefits. If you like to work 24 hrs a day, seven days a week this is the job for you.

    Cons

Expected to work or be on call 24 hrs a day, seven days a week. Maintenance is a nightmare on 1950's type machinery. Worst job E-V-E-R! Expect to never have a weekend off if you take a salary job at this plant. Not worth the money no matter how much they offer to pay you!

    Advice to Management

No improvements will probably ever be made here.

I have been working at Cascades Tissue Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pay is decent. Better then some places I've been. If you like to work overtime then this is the place for you.

    Cons

The safety of the hourly employee is NOT a concern. No actual training for any position. No opportunity for advancement. Does not listen to the employees who know what they are doing. Members of management have never done the job that all of us do on a daily basis and all they want is numbers, numbers, numbers and they do not understand or realize that stuff happens when the machinery runs 24/7/365.

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to come down to Waterford, NY and talk to the employees. Everyone is sick and tired of the lies because of the poor management and I don't think corporate is being told everything that is actually going on in this facility

I worked at Cascades Tissue Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Had the pleasure of working with wonderful, caring individuals. Everyone worked well together as a team. A lot of flexibility was given as long as the work was done. The profit sharing can be a great extra bonus.

    Cons

A few years ago I would have rated this company 5 stars. The company has been undergoing changes and unfortunately, many hard working, U.S. employees have lost their jobs because of it. Upper management doesn't realize the amount of hours that are spent working in the office and from home in order to meet deadlines. Expect salaries to get capped and then receive minimal increases.

    Advice to Management

Realize the fact that one person can only do so much work in a day. One person cannot do the job of five. Appreciate your employees and don't let them feel kicked to the curb and like 10 years of hard work and dedication went completely unnoticed.
