I worked at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great clients to work with.

    Cons

Tyranical management. No regard for employee safety. Allows no input from clients but says consumer driven!?

    Advice to Management

Consumer driven means clients have a say. With your disregard for employee safety lawsuits are coming.

    Pros

    Good out of college job

    Cons

Everything else. They put quotas. Treat mental health like a commodity

I have been working at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The clients are the only thing that make working at Cascadia worth it. This is a good stepping stone job; good for the resume, that's about it.

    Cons

The frequency in which full time staff call out is to the point where all you can do is laugh in disbelief. There are literally moments where I wonder if Ashton Kutcher himself will jump out and tell me I'm being Punk'd, or maybe someone will pinch me and tell me that the company of Cascadia is actually just a nightmare & not reality. But then again, maybe I shouldn't have such high expectations of people when the...

    Advice to Management

Take care of those who actually show up to work and strive to make a difference in the lives of those they work with. Actually do something to get rid of the people who take advantage of the company; something that negatively impacts not only the team morale, but is extremely detrimental to the clients as well.

I have been working at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare

    Pros

Generous PTO, pretty good health benefits (Kaiser)

    Cons

For not even $15 an hour there is... Lots of paperwork and suggested quotas for billing for your services (inconsistencies in what is and isn't appropriate to bill for) Monthly case conferences and monthly summaries for clients Constantly understaffed and overworked (getting frozen into the next shift is not uncommon for swing shifters) Threat of assault from clients that is not taken seriously by mgmt when concerns...

I have been working at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The clients are great. Lots of PTO.

    Cons

If you are a living, breathing human being you are qualified to work here and pass narcotics to clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Yes, even if you have ZERO experience in mental health, even if you show up to your job interview late, in jeans and in flip flops, you can work here. You could pick a random person in the grocery store and I guarantee they could be hired. That's the type of company Cascadia...

I have been working at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Excellent paid time off. Insurance is reasonable.

      Cons

Minimal if any cost of living raises. Not enough guidance to assist line staff in working directly with people who have severe mental illness. Supervision is sparse and irregular.

      Advice to Management

Train staff as much as you can who are interacting with clients the most and include line staff in decisions.

I have been working at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Love the clients. Good PTO. I have great respect for most of my coworkers who work really hard and truly care.

      Cons

It's about billing. Quantity over Quality is the rule. They push you and push you and continually add more and more work without listening to the staff who suffer. There are constantly shifts open, people being frozen on shifts being forced to work 16 hour shifts because turn over is so high. Clients suffer because of high turn over and burn out by staff. The truest mentally ill are being warehoused. I've been...

I have been working at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

decent co-workers.....some young with little life experience but nice and friendly at least.

      Cons

The absolute worse employer I have ever had in my 25 yrs as a BSW......low morale, no pay raises in almost 4 yrs.....oops forgot about the quarter (25 cent) raise but that was a slap in the face to all of us hard workers who work with very difficult clients. It would of been better if they kept their 25 cents per hour and just said we cannot afford raises.

I have been working at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare

      Pros

Opportunities for education and some of the management are awesome!

      Cons

Too many inexperienced people running the show and the power trips are ridiculous. People delegate their work to the direct care staff and it keeps them from giving quality care to the clientele. It's really sad when I hear a staff tell a client that they can't help them because they have to do their paperwork.

      Advice to Management

Listen to the staff, they have an informed voice. Stop laying all your work on others. Make it possible for people do do their work without interfering with the quality of care for our clientele. They are the reason why we're all here... I know you need to save money and watch the budget, we all get that. Just be aware of where you make your cuts. Give people the raises they deserve before you buy new carpets and redecorate....
