    Pros

A great place to work at one time but with the recent merger has brought about many changes. The business model is the same however the culture has changed. No longer a great place to work.

    Cons

Too many upper management changes, pay, bonus and vacation structure has been drastically reduced and revamped. Required to work a lot of hours 45-50 hours.

    Advice to Management

Stabilize the company quickly you are losing too many good people.

I have been working at Cash America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paycheck (if they are not underpaying you)
Some co-workers/ former supervisors are still good friends of mine.
    Meeting new people everyday.
    Good deals on merchandise.

    Cons

Hours: they expect managers to work 45-50 hours a week. 50-55 hours during the holidays. Even though they say they are good about work/life balance, this is however a lie, you have no life if you become a manager. Coming in at 8 am and sometimes leaving at 8 pm multiple times a week. You're only allowed to have one Saturday a month, if that. They have multiple management team in the stores but you cannot rotate the weekends.

Pawn/retail: they have forgotten that Cash America started as a PawnShop not a resell shop. They've become so money hungry lately that is uncomfortable for people to even come in to pawn their items.

SMILE: The SMILE program focuses on customer service and they want everyone to get with it. Floor general has to be there at all times. God forbid you fall behind on other stuff that's actually important because you'll be an angry email stating why that's not getting done, but they want you to be on the floor at all times. What they want you to do is, to clone yourself to be on the sales floor and the other in the back office managing inventory.

Stores: Cash America does not care if the building is falling apart or if water is coming in from the roof. If we don't have the budget to fix issues we don't fix them. They do not fix AC in the back warehouse of its broken. God bless the 20 year old people who are pulling items for inventory in a hot Texas summer.

    Advice to Management

Get it together! This business was meant to help people in need and your training your managers and whole team to riff off customers as they come in. Shop manager has to think how much he'll be able to sell the items instead of understanding what the customer needs. You have it backwards.

Try to understand the coworkers as well as the customers. Not all stores are the same stop trying to cookie cutter the whole company.

    Pros

Cleaner the EZ pawn good deals on items

    Cons

Some of the mangers were made managers just because they worked for the company for 15 years even though they have no idea how to be a manger. They let a customer threating myself another employee and our lives and let the customer come back in the building and still have them a loan. They didn't even recognize people who did the right thing and caught a assistant manger stealing a lot of jewelry

    Advice to Management

Get better management and appreciate the great workers who work 10 hour days sometimes

I have been working at Cash America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits were decent, although declining in recent years. Pay was low upon starting, but increased with time and through promotion opportunities.

    Cons

Many, many employees being laid off through supposed merger. They did give notice of release date, but new company being seen as not providing same type of shop support as previously given.

    Advice to Management

Expectations in a first world country are vastly different than those being previously offered in Mexico (by new company). Shops are your bread and butter, better to support them in order to take care of customers.
