I have been working at Cassens full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The best advice is don't start working here it will no end well.

    Cons

This company is a joke and their equipment is junk . Slow weak junk. The management and owners are evil to the drivers and show it at every turn . It's a union job but the union is nothing more than a parasite here. The pension is in default (no money). All super short loads,no money here . Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Silver spoon fed clueless and haven't the brain power to know the difference.

I worked at Cassens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. We had very flexible schedules, and double time on sundays, and as much overtime as we wanted to work.

    Cons

Management was horrible to deal with, and mismanaged the company. Never gave us equipment that worked properly, or vans that ran properly.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees better, and give them the proper equipment to do their job, and there would not be any issues.

I have been working at Cassens

    Pros

terminal is close to my home i like working at cassens good terminal manager good dispatchers I make very good money the car haul industry has been very good to me cassens is a very well run company without a bunch of over paid managers micro managing you plan on retiring here

    Cons

training program needs some help not spending enough time with new employees too much employee turnover I think new drivers are expecting too much money when the first start out they get frustrated and quit

    Advice to Management

might be time to look at a real training program with good results might be time to start questioning some of the damage claims submitted by dealers before you just write a check and reprimand the drivers the bottom line is even if you fire that driver you still pay the claim

    Pros

Union benefits, high pay for work completed. Bad, really bad, wouldn't work there again if it was the last driving job on earth. MC Donald's would be a better choice

    Cons

Fighting with management over everything you do. Constant struggle to get home on weekends. Forced out on Sunday. Managers play favorites with certain employees.

I have been working at Cassens full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Ok pay but not the best , health ins is ok , time off is more then you'll want . Seniority dispatch is good.

    Cons

These people treat drivers like dirt, junk trucks , no power , 60 to 61 max if your lucky .ear plugs are a must when driving very loud in cab . No insulation for temp very hot in summer freezing in winter and company wants it that way. Poor terminals not adequate for use by humans. No pension left at teamsters no retirement . Unsafe working environment no water at dock to drink the list goes on and on . Worst of... they will not fix bad brakes or rusted out frames , exhaust leaks into from bad doghouse seal . Go anywhere but here to work people leaving by the dozens to work for Hanse and Adkins and Moore even united road .

I have been working at Cassens full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, checks don't bounce. Vacation pay and sick time. Can't meet the 20 word minimum with Pros.

    Cons

Equipment is from the Stone Age. Nothing gets fixed just band-aided. Not all terminals have a shop. Those that do the mechanics are over worked with no real time to fix issues. The ones that don't use outside sources to do repairs and don't repair properly due to lack of knowledge or refusal from terminal managers to approve repairs. When you're load consists of $60,000+ vehicles you shouldn't be cutting corners on... repairs. Management doesn't work well with each other or the drivers. It's a constant game and if you don't know the "rules" they take advantage of you then play dumb when you figure them out like they didn't know. Union outfit, not sure if that's bad or not. The union only seems to concerned on there due collection. They overlook problems and most times seem to cause more. Keeps benefits cheap is the only good I see. All the terminals are old, falling down, musty, moldy buildings. Half don't even have clean restrooms or break areas. Company doesn't seem to want to invest any money in itself which makes drivers wary of there long term plans.

    Advice to Management

Invest in yourself and you're staff. Work with the union or just pull out all together. You're losing employees that never planned on looking for another job again once they had this one. Make this a place that has more applicants than open positions again.

    Pros

Great benefits, not sitting in search for 11 hours a day

    Cons

You will work outside in all environments

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Don't look down upon drivers because they don't have a college education .

    I worked at Cassens

    Pros

Nothing to difficult about driving cars and parking them.

    Cons

Employees and Management are not helpful in training new employees. They would rather allow new employees to make mistakes, including damage to property, than train newcomers. Management takes a very passive role, and allow employees to cover-up damage.

    Advice to Management

Restructure your labor force before you lose contracts.
