I have been working at Cast & Crew full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Open, friendly work environment. Opportunities for growth. Employee retention (a lot of employees have been part of the company for many years). Competitive benefits and bonus options.

    Cons

More internal communications would be beneficial.

    Advice to Management

Continue to actively foster a positive work environment. I've always been a big believer that a little open dialogue goes a long way and would encourage any manager to conduct more open, honest and transparent communications, more often. With new acquisitions comes inevitable change -- which can be scary and unpredictable. It would be great to see more two-way communications between employees (at all levels) and their managers/leadership teams to discuss challenges and successes so that voices are heard and solutions put into action.

    I worked at Cast & Crew full-time

    Pros

As a former CAPS employee, the benefits, events, Annual Bonuses.

    Cons

Lack of communication from C & C management to CAPS Employees. Lot's mishaps when given communication on upcoming events and changes. Despite more options with benefits the out of pocket cost for employees with family became more. Annual merit increase was an insult to injury. Many people were confused in terms of management decisions with the high turnover on the CAPS side. Many members of the C & C staff when it came to requesting assistance or work had a "This was due yesterday mentality". This created a toxic environment where you were constantly reminded how expendable you were compared to upper management.

    Advice to Management

Show more transparency on company wide decisions. Show more effort to keep highly skilled employees. Be more involved in improving morale. Consider remote office for employees with longer commutes. Create a forum for the newly acquired companies to voice their concerns quarterly. Low morale equals high turnover and poor quality work.

    I worked at Cast & Crew full-time

    Pros

Unfortunately the handful of pros were pre-acquisition. Great benefit options, camaraderie, transparency

    Cons

C&C company culture has a 'Stepford Wives' feel among upper management. Authenticity is no where to be found. Employees are treated as dispensable and taken advantage of with managers gleaming with smiles on their faces and empty stares. If you ask a question, no one knows the answer and managers will get offended with you simply for asking. They create more work than necessary because they aren't savvy. They are artful at intimidation, "nice-nasty" and patronizing. The new HR department constantly under delivers and is behind. During the acquisition benefits were messed up, the CAPS HR team was uninformed and constantly scrambling, yet CAPS employees weren't welcomed to reach out to C&C directly. Fire, Aim, ready...wait what were we doing?... was the approach.

    Advice to Management

Hire competent leaders and not just yes men because when it's time to make important decisions you'll want strong leaders with experience and knowledge in their function to give a solid point of view and to deliver instead of managing down and hoping their subordinates know and can handle issues that they themselves cannot. Also I dare you to look up 'quality, integrity and security.' If you're going to use these as your core values you have a lot of work to do! First things first, determine what they mean. 2nd, it starts at the top - I know you're paid well so it's hard to believe that you are possibly the problem, but these are not the things that make you, that make a company. HR should bring in executive coaches and turn that place around...do this, adhere to the values and you'll be great! You're dealing with people, humans with families, livelihoods and feelings! Act accordingly.

I worked at Cast & Crew full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Annual holiday bonus, CAPS employees and CAPS systems.

    Cons

I was actually a CAPS employee, C&C bought CAPS and the whole transition was a disaster! The leadership at this company is so over the top and their culture is like a cult. Management is overly egotistical and the company acts like their NASA or a company saving lives. C&C poorly planned the integration of the two companies and it showed to CAPS employees in the worst ways. Benefits were screwed up and, performance reviews were delivered late and in a very unorganized manner. The HR dept kept dwindling down and their was poor management from the C&C side. HR seemed very unorganized and overwhelmed once the merge happened. Tons of employees quit because the company announced that they were moving and they kept employees at uneasy standstill so good employees left and C&C showed that they didn't care. There compensation is way under market and they penny pinch to the tightest penny.

    Advice to Management

Show all employees across the board that they are valued even those from merged/acquired companies, not just your precious C&C employees.

I worked at Cast & Crew full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A little bit of family feel left. Some what OK benefits. Some ppl have been there for 20-30 years...

    Cons

Poor management especially in IT department. I guess it depends on which group you are in. The manager of the group I belong to is micro-managing like crazy. And if you ever don't agree with the manager, you better hide your opinion, otherwise you would get penalized. If you try to talk to upper management, you would quickly realize that they are on the same side 100% of the time and you would further be bullied. They will make your life miserable and force you out...

    Advice to Management

Don't treat your employee like kids. Listen to their advices even you don't take them. Even you think some employees might've caused some issues for you, try to work it out with them instead of bullying them or forcing them out. They are not bad ppl. Some employees are very talented but their enthusiasm of the work are getting ignored.

I worked at Cast & Crew full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You'll never get fired. And the worse you are the higher up the promotion ladder you'll climb. (That's a pro for anyone who sucks at what they do but wants to go far in a company). No pros for SMART, honest, hard working, employees.

    Cons

Employees are completely unappreciated. Any complaints are viewed as you having an attitude - not as you trying to make your workplace a better environment.

The people they have in supervisory roles are a joke - most of them were on the verge of being fired because they couldn't do their job timely or correctly - but instead of firing them they promote them.

No training. Not even an option. But they'll hire people with little to no experience. Then watch as they fail. It's just wrong.

The CEO Is fake fake fake fake fake fake fake. Shady. He has less than zero integrity. He will tell you what you want to hear - but will never follow through. I don't think he actually does any "work". He just talks the talk. Tells bad jokes. And rakes in the money. And as soon as you leave - he'll have nothing but bad things to say about you. Trust! He's petty and immature and cannot be trusted.

A decade ago this was a wonderful place to work. Really a shame it's such a miserable environment now.

    Advice to Management

Replace all managers / supervisors with people who have PAYROLL KNOWLEDGE. You are a payroll company. That's your bread and butter. Act like it.

    Pros

Excellent benefits and employees are friendly and talented.

    Cons

CEO relies primarily on a consultant who is also a close friend and has no business being involved with departments he knows nothing about. Employees opinions don't matter and are retaliated against for expressing them. Used to be a great place to work yet over the last year became quite hostile with the consultant berating employees and using disruptive management techniques.

    Advice to Management

Take back control of your company and be a person of your word.

I worked at Cast & Crew full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Like any company wanting to focus on growth and opporunity in a specific industry, you have a little trial and error in the process. Cast & Crew offers a decent salary, free healthcare and (with the help of a newly structured HR team) a little bit of fun here and there.

    Cons

Cast & Crew relies heavily on their employees to keep Customers happy, yet should spend a little more time focusing on the happiness of their employees to keep to customer happy. The turnover rate for a lot of new employees seems to be pretty high, as they hire people with fancy previous titles and degrees, but no common connection to what it is the company does.

    Advice to Management

There is a big disconnect in long-term vision (i.e direction) of the company and where each member of management is trying to take us. My advice is to polish up game plans, limit the "inner-office" politics and focus on building from within.
