I have been working at Catalyst Paper full-time

    Pros

Great locations, decent salary, great location...oh and great location

    Cons

Zero team work, fractured management teams, benefits have been stripped away from staff including vacation and pension, no communication or support but a high expectation to perform

    Advice to Management

Best locations in Canada to work, but this is not enough of a pro to make the move to Catalyst worthwhile. Stay away until this company sorts itself out...hopefully soon...

I have been working at Catalyst Paper full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Excellent salary compensation. Flexible benefits package with options. Flexible working arrangements exist. The industry is tough but this allows skills development in running lean, efficient operations.

    Cons

Flexible working arrangements exist but are at manager discretion so not available in every department. New employees must work for 7 years before gaining another week of vacation time (starting with 3 weeks).

I worked at Catalyst Paper full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Working for a pulp mill Catalyst has some of the best locations

    Cons

Has a lot of fatalities for the industry, the worst safety record of major pulp mills in Canada, old poorly maintained equipment benefits are on the low end, especially pension.

    Advice to Management

    Give respect to your employees

Thanks for taking the time to post a review. Catalyst is not perfect, but in fact has an improving safety record, with both the injury severity rate and number of incidents resulting in lost time from work declining from 2015. See page 27 of our 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility ...
