I have been working at Catherines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work - life balance and positive work environment. Team work fosters ideas and creativity.

    Cons

Departmental objectives are sometimes not in alignment with corporate objectives which makes for challenging progress on certain projects.

    Advice to Management

Provide an opportunity for more brain storming sessions from cross functional teams in order to provide for a broader range of ideas.

I worked at Catherines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount at all ascena brands. Pay and benefits.

    Cons

Very clicky so if you don't suck up you will be pushed out. A lot of drama for a bunch of old women

    Advice to Management

If employees go over the person they are supposed to with out discussing issues with their direct manager they should be referred to talk with the manager first and then if nothing is accomplished then got above that employee. Be fair with all employees it can't be black and white for most employees but it is grey for this other half.. managers need to have the authority to discipline their direct reports immediately not wait until their boss gets around to doing so if ever.

I have been working at Catherines part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pretty easy job most days. You really get to appreciate the nice customers that truly love the store. Co-workers are very nice, dare I say like family. Hours are okay.

    Cons

Some customers are really a handful sometimes. Literally they act like they cannot read. The same exclusions pretty much always apply for coupons and yet the customers who come to the store multiple times a week say the exact same thing every time. You would think they would learn by now. Sometimes the company makes decisions that you just have to laugh at because it makes absolutely no sense.

    Advice to Management

    Please make better decisions!

I have been working at Catherines part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun great discount on clothes helping clients save money client relationship built

    Cons

Not enough hours. Not keeping promises for promotion. I was working at catherines for 2 years and decided to transfer out of state, my manager suggested i transfer to a catherines in the new state and apply for sales lead. I made the contact and was told they would accept my transfer and make me a sales lead. I told them i would be there in about 30 days so i could tie up loose ends to move, they said thats fine we need your skill set. Upon reporting to the new store after my move i was told they filled the sales lead position and were only going to give me 10 hours a week. I was livid and nothing was done.

    Advice to Management

Put managers on accountability the companies expectations are for their employees to act with integrity but there are managers that dont and nothing is done.

    Pros

    -Okay pay
    -Not a hard job
    -Great co-workers

    Cons

-Company cares more about associates than customers
    -No fire policy?
-Associates basically run the establishment with their views and are allowed to tell customers to leave because they are against the employee's views and the company will agree with the associate even though customers complain about bad service.
    -Honestly a joke

    Advice to Management

-Why keep associates who do nothing and turn away business?
-Do your job instead of handing EVERYTHING to your associates

    Pros

Discount can be used at Lane Bryant

    Cons

Management, pay, hours, lack of respect, drama.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect. It wasn't the work I minded it was the manager, she was hateful and drama filled, and when I finally got the nerve to tell the boss above her she did nothing. So I quit. If you respect yourself don't work here. The pay and hours are terrible.

    Pros

-Love the people I work with
    -My customers are cool
-My store manager cares about me
    -Flexible with your schedule
    -Amazing 50% discount
Great if you are looking for a little part time gig and you already have another part time job. Thats probably where you will stay unless a store manager or assistant manager quits.

    Cons

-They don't pay us enough...but no sales associate anywhere does.
-The new company that took over doesn't care about us
    -minimum hours
-not a lot of advancement opportunities
    -no benefits for associates.
-benefits only given to assistant manager and store manager
    -no full-time associates
-company doesn't give us enough hours to distribute to everyone

    Advice to Management

The management doesn't control really anythinvg but training. The management doesn't need advice but the people running the company do! the company needs to give us more hours and they need to bring back Benefits for associates.
