    I have been working at Catherines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Fun stying customers with new fashions, Store associates need minimal direction. Like helping customers feel good about themselves with helping them select a wardrobe. Upper management is great easy to communicate with, very open door and friendly. Business has clear goals, love being challenged and achieving set goals. Good training materials tools are provided by corporate to meet and exceed selling goals. Good employee discount.

    Cons

    Pay for the amount of with that is expense done by you. Get stuck doing most of the grunt work, very physical job. Store manager mostly delegates and some how gets out of doing most of the work, but makes it seem as if they are helping. And expects you do do way more than your fair share of responsibilities. They mention moving up in the company but manager doesn’t really make much of an effort to help mentor. Only showed me how to do a couple of tasks so they no longer have to do them. Constantly understaffed, no work life balance. Have to work long stretches of work days (sometimes 9+ days strait) just to get a few days off. Half the customers can be rude and crabby. Have to clean the bathroom when customers poop and get urine all over the floor, toilet seat and walls(happens a lot more than you think) almost weekly.

    50% employee discount Small, quaint store Easy work

    Cons

    Minimum wage, doesn't seem so bad at first, but they won't let you work enough. Management only gives 3 - 9 hours a week to work. Strict rules on accessories dress code. They made us wear at least 5 pieces per outfit and I just couldn't afford anymore clothing on such bad pay.

    Strict on credit card sign ups when mostly everyone is a return customer and has it Not enough hours, barely (5 a week) ; understood this wasn't managements fault corporate approved hours to each store

    Pros

    - working with the customers and learning their personal style so you can provide it for them every visit - understanding and likable store manager and staff - 50% employee discount - flexible schedule willing to accommodate other jobs and schedules

    Cons

    - not enough payroll hours to cover the store with corporate micromanaging the few hours given - no opportunity for advancement unless someone else quits and no opportunity for raises - instead of real customer satisfaction, only care about credits and 'perks' where stores are given high goals and no real incentive to achieve them outside of reward points and the fear of being reprimanded - atmosphere turns bad when we are talked down to like children by corporate management during visits

    I worked at Catherines part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    The employee discount and the fact I had a job were the only pros.

    Cons

    I worked here for a little over a year and literally had four different store managers in that time frame. The assigned work schedules were inconsistent. There were some weeks when I'd only be scheduled to work 10 hours for an entire week! Store management would never give you a schedule more than a week ahead of time. The management was incompetent, and the pay was 25 cents above minimum wage. Just an awful job.
