    Care Coordinator in Chicago, IL

I have been working at Catholic Charities (Oregon) for more than a year

    Pros

The position of care Coordinator under Case Management is rewarding, in regards to stewardship. To assist a client with education and knowledge in making their recovery safe and stable is an honor.

    Cons

Doing Home Visit and expecting the "unexpected". wrong address, a member that is un-comfortable doing the visit, asking the member to put away animals. The worst is to tell a member they do not qualify for services.

I have been working at Catholic Charities (Oregon) full-time

    Pros

A great place to work. Good benefits, people that really care. A wonderful organization that serves the community, no matter what your religious belief are.

    Cons

Terrible pay, not at all consistent with other jobs of similar nature. Upper management seems slow to respond and somewhat stilted, slow to make changes ans don't communicate well with programs.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Catholic Charities (Oregon) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Worked with a fantastic team of people who were passionate about their work. Catholic Charities provides competitive wages for those in the non-profit field.

    Cons

Catholic Charities is a very large organization, so while there is a lot to do, it can be easy to feel like just one in a crowd. Teams can act somewhat like silos.

    Advice to Management

Encouragement goes a long way in this field of work. It can be easy for employees to get sucked into only what's in front of them and forget to see the actual impact they have.

I worked at Catholic Charities (Oregon) part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The biggest pros for me would be the people who work there are very friendly and that things tended to run rather smoothly.

    Cons

Occasionally there would be essentially nothing to do or not enough tasks for everyone there so you would end up just kind of sitting around.

    Advice to Management

Maybe designate roles and duties a bit more clearly. As stated, there were quite a few times where there really wasn't much to do.

I worked at Catholic Charities (Oregon) part-time

    Pros

There are wonderful people to work with at Catholic Charities. You get paid volunteer time as well.

    Cons

Unfortunately, working in Non Profit you rely on Grant money- if the money runs out and doesn't renew- you no longer have a job.

I worked at Catholic Charities (Oregon)

    Pros

Truly believe in the dignity of the people they serve. People work hard for little money. Very passionate.

    Cons

Need to better balance the needs of those they serve with available resources. Employees too concerned with their own part of the agency but ignore the big picture.

    Advice to Management

Focus more in the big picture. Management needs to make the hard decisions when it comes to operations and least on politics.
