    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany full-time

    Pros

Dynamic position requires multitasking and prioritization. Days are often busy and scheduling is key.

    Cons

This position is not taken seriously among other director positions. Direct supervision - the superintendent of schools - has little or no knowledge of Director of Operations duties, requirements, funding streams, implementation etc. aka there is little support for this position

    Advice to Management

Understand the value of the position or get rid of it - let another area within the diocese take over the responsibilities.

    Pros

Wonderful kids, fun environment, relaxed atmosphere, great coworkers. Management is supportive and responsive when it comes to crisis management. They are also flexible and understand that "life happens."

    Cons

Pay is fairly low, no benefits or time off (note - this was a seasonal position), clients can be difficult

    Advice to Management

Would love to see some more visibility for certain programs, as well as opportunities for employees to move within the organization.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nonprofit accounting is interesting and good entry-level preparation for public accounting.

    Cons

Terrible supervision, management, and senior leadership. Very insular, not innovative, just a giant subcontractor of the government providing "good enough" services to needy populations.

    Advice to Management

Get a vision, try to have a real, positive impact on beneficiaries' lives, actually conduct program evaluation and evaluate management.
