I have been working at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Able to gain some type of experience working with children-

    Cons

-Unhappy staff, they seem very miserable -Even on your time off you will be called in -Dealing with a lot of gossip in the workplace -Unethical practice -Being placed in very stressful situations -No advancement

    Advice to Management

The overall job in itself was just not a good job. Many times you just feel like your being thrown in situations that can be very detrimental to your health. Also be very careful who you speak with. A lot of these people are very fake. Be careful what you share with any of these people. I realized that in the time I was working here. Some of the people that have been here for a long time also seem to not have advanced....

I worked at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Clients are kind, interview was conducted professionally and kindly (She was amazing)

    Cons

Wage is very low- Noncompetitive, Long Hours 7 Days on, 7 Days off, Staff never smiles or appears to be happy in the short time I was there and lastly but most importantly they offered me the job and did not let me know it was contingent on my driving record clearing their insurance's acceptance so I quit my other job and without either my background check or driving record check passing, they had me working with vulnerable...

    Advice to Management

I don't think it is good, safe practice to allow people to work with vulnerable adults, especially without supervision until you find out if the applicant's background/driving record check (whatever is applicable) has been cleared by MN DHS.

    Pros

Time off & wonderful direct repot boss.

    Cons

Pay was very minimal. Very disorganized place to work. Seen employees get away with some very unethical practices and nothing was done about it. HR department was terrible at helping people out with their needs.

I have been working at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Working for an organization which is all about compassion and caring, you get the double benefit of feeling really good about the work we collectively do, and you also get to be working side-by-side with wonderful co-workers who care not just about our clients but also about each other. I feel valued and appreciated for my contributions.

    Cons

As is often the case with non-profit organizations, wages are sometimes less than a similar position in a for-profit business, but I am so much more satisfied with my career now then I was with a higher-paying but less-fulfilling job I used to have.

The working environment is very friendly. It's rewarding to work for an organization that helps people and it's nice to work with coworkers who are very passionate about serving our community. There are various programs and services within the company, so the career opportunities are vast. The benefits and pay are a big plus as well. Catholic Charities treats its employees very well!

Most jobs are located strictly in St. Cloud, so commute is required for a select few positions.

I have been working at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud

    Pros

I made a lot of great friendships while working here. The reason I stay is because I enjoy the kids and my co workers.

    Cons

They take in kids that we cannot manage. They continue to say we do not take aggressive kids but we continue to let them in our treatment program. Staff can be assaulted multiple times by the same child before anything is done and offer very little support. The phrase "we don't care about staff retention only about making money" has been used more than once around the agency and on multiple occasions staff have presented...

I worked at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Occasionally getting to do fun activities like bon fires, canoe trips, and celebrating the holidays with the kids. Getting to build relationships and really make a difference for some of the kids, and the reward of seeing some of them succeed later on. Good PTO (you'll need it) but expect to even be contacted during your vacation time to pick up shifts.

    Cons

Lots of gossip and staff drama, no support from clinical staff or administration, always under staffed for high volumes of kids, always being given kids that don't meet the criteria for the cottage - ex. getting kids that are very physically aggressive and violent in an open unit when not staffed appropriately or equipped to handle. NO back up or security when there are escalated behaviors. Clinical staff DO NOT care...

    Advice to Management

Increase pay, listen to your employees concerns, get more staff, quit taking in every single kid just to generate numbers and more money rather than evaluating whether or not they truly meet the criteria for whichever cottage. Have on-call staff so that staff can actually CALL IN SICK when needed. CLEAN the entire facility top to bottom and get a different food distributor - improve the food quality! Treat everyone with...
