I worked at Catholic Health Services of Long Island full-time

    Pros

Offer great benefits and a lot of great people work there.

    Cons

Management is not always held accountable and takes advantage of CHSLI and sometimes their employees.

    Advice to Management

When people come to you with valid complaints, they should be taken seriously and looked in to. This can reduce turnover.

I have been working at Catholic Health Services of Long Island part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Small and everyone is like family. Good stepping stone to get your experience here and transfer somewhere else.

    Cons

Low pay compared to other hospitals in the area.

    Advice to Management

Everything comes down to money! Management needs to staff more people on certain floors. Most of the PCA's have 11-12 patients on the 1st and 2nd floor.

I worked at Catholic Health Services of Long Island full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Learn a lot in regards to telemetry/cardiac

    Cons

Treat you like a slave, mean and condescending to new nurses. No new nurse support, patient ratios too high for acute patients (7:1). No lunch breaks ever offered on my floor. 1.5yrs working here and never got a lunch break. No nurse autonomy, no trust in nurses. Bullying among nurses and management. Negative environment. Culture of blame. Very high turnover, stress level and responsibility of nurses are too high. Not...

    Advice to Management

Lower your ratios and make your nurses happy if you want your nurses to last
