    Pros

Relatively firm 5pm departure time, clean office space, respectful colleagues.

    Cons

Questionable leadership: higher ups lack clear vision and strategy, often lose focus on the big picture.
Low morale: corporate employees feel undervalued.
Antiquated atmosphere: the office looks and feels straight out of 1987, and the technology is severely sub-par.

    Advice to Management

Employee retention/appreciation efforts would go a long way. Salaries, benefit packages, and day to day gestures could all be improved.

    I worked at Cato full-time

    Pros

You can develop a close team and build relationships.

    Cons

Relationships don't pay bills. Very low salary. Payroll cut to minimum so store manager typically works a few full days open to close each week. Hard to keep staff motivated when they don't feel appreciated (compensated). No merit raises. Associates can work well over a year without even an appraisal or chance of a 10 cent raise and they begin to feel discouraged after a while.

    Advice to Management

Hiring managers please be very honest with potential staff so they'll know exactly what to expect.
