    Pros

Growing quickly. Opportunity for professional advancement. Company is a trusted resource by retailers when it comes to craft beer. Culture and attitude towards employees is exceptional.

I have been working at Cavalier Distributing Company full-time

    Pros

This is a company that is growing and succeeding while competing against big beer. The craft beer business is fun. The owner runs the business with integrity. There is a big focus on how to improve the business, which is great for someone who wants to jump in and come up with new and better ways of doing things. The culture is great, and the employees are generally good, hardworking, fun people.

    Cons

There's definitely some growing pains. Change is happening quickly, and it is tough for some people. Communication is still not as good as it needs to be, which makes the constant change even more challenging.

I worked at Cavalier Distributing Company full-time

    Pros

Worked with awesome people on a daily basis. Lots of fun meetings with beer tastings. Work on your own out of an office. Business casual dress and work on your own schedule.

    Cons

Poor commissions for the hours put in. No opportunity to get higher commissions. Managers took sales bonuses from supplies even though sales people were doing the work. Weird structuring of sales routes.

I have been working at Cavalier Distributing Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Great culture - Friendly staff - Benefits! - Normal hours - Free beer This is a great place to get into the industry and learn what you need to know about beer. The atmosphere is great and everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The best manager I've ever had was here, and Cavalier is a great step in the door for the industry.

    Cons

    - Nepotism - Poor upper management - Makes promises they can't keep - Little PTO, no holidays, no time-and-a-half - Poor communication - Little upward movement - Poor pay, no raises The biggest concern is upper management. There are issues going on behind the scenes within the leadership team that impact employees negatively. Communication is very poor and everyone has too much on their plate to run things... efficiently. They work like a much larger company with far fewer people, though they can't seem to pay anyone else to help lighten the load. You can't depend on the promise of getting a raise or being promoted, as it likely will never happen.

    Advice to Management

Be open and honest with your employees. Stop making informal promises to people that you never follow up on. Stop favoring friends and family members for positions when they're clearly not suited for them. And offer more holidays. Getting 3 holidays a year sucks.

I worked at Cavalier Distributing Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Work schedule is determined by you. There is no set time to start your day. The brands that you represent are of great quality and most brand reps will help all they can. And most people that you deal with in the industry are very fun to work with. Overall if you are in your 20's, or early 30's you will have a awesome time working as a sales representative.

    Cons

The management structure of the company is quite laughable. Most of the time your district manager is just a yes man (or woman). Most of the talented sales representatives end up finding better sales jobs due to the pay structure of the company. Also, after you develop a good sales territory of accounts, they cut it in half and you have to almost start over.

    Advice to Management

Pay your representatives more money so that they do not have to look for other job opportunities.
