I have been working at Cavaliers part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working for an amazing team and experiencing the atmosphere of every game is always an incredible experience.

    Cons

None except the season isn't long enough.

I have been working at Cavaliers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Trips.
    Events.
    Lots of training year round.
    Food on gameday.
    Great stepping stone.

    Cons

I enjoyed a lot of my time here.
     Most of management is approachable.
Since the cavs are winning if you work for their minor league properties you get a sense that they do not care about you. Understandable as the Cavs are a big $$$ maker. You get told that you can start out as OBD and move up but they will keep you as a Junior for a long time after OBD. Sometimes you get put with the Monsters or Glads and they will throw this dream that you will move up to the cavs. Rarely does that happen. They will hire from the outside just to keep you where you are at. They will tell you " You are not ready" then like myself you'll leave for job in the Majors. Since I left there has been a lot of turnover with reps. Some getting out of sports. Some moving to different teams.

    Advice to Management

If you can't promote from within try placing them with a different team. Moving from OBD to the Monsters isn't a step up. Other teams do a much better job of placing their inside sales reps with positions that will be a upward move.

I have been working at Cavaliers full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, memorable experiences, good people

    Cons

Hands-down the most unorganized place I ever worked.

People across the board unwilling to accept responsibility for derision making creating bottle-necks and additional work.

LONG hours (if you haven't slept in the arena at some point you will have at least come close to doing so).

No work/life balance to speak of.

     Poor pay.

    Advice to Management

Take control of the situation and either get the tools needed to allow subordinates to do the job the way you want it or get out of the way and let them reach their own solutions.

Respect the fact that people have loved-ones outside of the arena that care about them and would like to see and spend (uninterrupted) time with them.

Actually follow your Isms. If Mr. Gilbert knew just how far the organization has strayed from these core beliefs and how fractured the culture is, he would most likely not be happy.

Lastly, PAY YOUR PEOPLE WHAT THEY (and their time) ARE WORTH! When you factor just how many hours some folk put in versus pay, there's probably a bunch of people that are earning near minimum wage.

I worked at Cavaliers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get up close with an NBA team
    Learned from accomplished sales leaders
    Great networking opportunity
    Plenty of opportunity for advancement

    Cons

    100 cold calls a day
Treated like a number more than a person
    Lots of hours in season

    Advice to Management

Relax from the "sales numbers over everything" philosophy
Later start times after 12+ hour game nights
Avoid the Churn and Burn philosophy

I have been working at Cavaliers part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a very flexible position within a very positive work environment. Many employees work here for many years and grow within the company.

    Cons

It will take a couple of months to acquire more hours if you are part-time.

    Advice to Management

Continue providing excellent guidance to the team. Great work thus far!

    Pros

Being in the sports & entertainment world has its perks, including free tickets to events (note: not Cavs or concerts) and first-hand experiences that you'll never forget (note: you will not hang out with players or celebrities).

Culture is well defined, which creates a fun environment that doesn't always feel like work.

    Cons

Jobs in sports are notorious for not paying well, and this organization is no different. Work-life balance is non-existent during the season, so prepare to put in 60+ hour workweeks from October-June, and have your phone glued to your hand when you're not in the office. Very limited opportunities for growth and development.

Organizational leadership is shaky, and blindly follows opportunities to make more money, no matter the long-term risk or additional workload for its employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the feedback that has been provided from your current and former employees.
