    Pros

The flexible hours are great for working with children. Also it appears that the company is trying to rebuild its image by having modern office space, ping-pong tables and free coffee. The break rooms are decent with plenty of free coffee and filtered water options. Also the people are all very nice and for the most part like what they are doing. The industry is always booming so the job is fairly secure. Moreover, the products are constantly changing so there is always work to do and everyone always seems busy. There is also a health club reimbursement which is nice.

    Cons

Employees that came from former acquisitions seems to be bitter at the amount of benefits/perks that were dropped when entering into the new, merged entity. Things like tuition reimbursement, free full benefits, no-questions-asked bonuses and many other perks were cut. Moreover, many people that occupied spacious offices were forced into small, low-walled cubicles. It always seems like big brother is watching as we have a proxy server for internet access, must log all of our time and always swipe badges where ever we go in the building. Upper management is bloated and requires too much paperwork and reporting that needs to be submitted.

Used To Be Good, Not Anymore. Good First Job Until You Can Go Elsewhere

Jan 17, 2015 - Senior Technical Manager in Chesapeake, VA

    Pros

Used to be very good here and very good team environment. Co-workers are amazing but that is best part of the job.

    Cons

Used to be good but around 2008 they started downsizing everything. Bonuses going away, having to share a desk between shifts so you don't have own desk anymore, shutting down cafeteria. They weren't laying anyone off but also not hiring new people when people left. Prior to this there were advancement opportunities, if you did a good job you could most likely advance up in a year or two. Main reason I left was because of this. I had taken promotion I didn't necessarily want to but I thought of it as an ends to a mean of getting up to where I wanted to be. When the advancement opportunities dried up I was stuck in a position I didn't want.

As a company, going downhill fast

Feb 7, 2010 - Customer Service Representative II in Chesapeake, VA

    Pros

Pays the bills. Can be good experience if you have never had an IT job. Benefits are decent. Option to work from home if you meet certain criteria.

    Cons

Employee morale has been run into the ground over the last few years because of the company taking things away from the employees, one by one. No raises in 2009, replaced MS Office with the very inferior Open Office. Cut back on perk point program. Recent layoffs. Company has always treated employees more like numbers, not people. IE- if you are getting laid off or fired, you find out when your badge doesn't open the front door, and your coworkers find out when they see someone putting all the things on your desk into a box. Events recently are making us wonder if the company is trying to make itself attractive for sale. Previously there were some good opportunities to move into other jobs that could lead to better things, but recent layoffs have taken away most chances for that.
