"A typical cruise line - but pays better, treats employees poorly."

    I worked at Celebrity Cruises

    Pros

World Travel, free food and board (although the food they give the crew is inedible at times). Excellent pay.

    Cons

FOOD is not heathy, not nutritious, and a sin to give to crew members who work 10-16 hours a day. They treat people as disposable. People are not honored or respected - it's all about the ratings and the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Increase your crew food budget. Do NOT make crew pay for their own uniforms - WHO DOES THAT!?!?!?! Treat woman and minorities the same as white men (a pipe dream, for sure).

I worked at Celebrity Cruises full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

the fellow crew members you meet while working there is the best part of working onboard.

    Cons

as i mentioned below, they teach you to train your staff using certain criteria and materials, but when it comes to shore side management, it does not seem to apply.

    Advice to Management

Don't keep on being blind to what your shore side support management staff(Hotel & F&B) is actually doing onboard. You don't see them all day, but they produce reports that are pulled out of the air.

    I worked at Celebrity Cruises

    Pros

Great itineraries, respected, brand, excellent service, opportunity for growth

    Cons

Management was so concerned with cruise ratings that they overwork you, poor pay, questional handling of unruly guests (i.e. guests that should've been disembarked from ship are allowed to continue sailing because management is too concerned with ratings), crew members are given substandard living quarters and no real concern for their well-being

    Advice to Management

Treat those that work for you with more respect and honesty and maybe you'll get the ratings you want
