    I worked at Celgene full-time

    Pros

The majority of the people there are very nice. The stock options were great if you can work there for a long term. Pay was low to average. I enjoyed working with other departments in supporting the production of the medication.

    Cons

Terrible leadership. For example, I would say in my career I have not seen a manager as horrible as my former manager. She is a micromanager and wants to control everything. The majority of the peoples in our site agree she is toxic to the site. It's unfortunate that many of her peers take notice of this however never confront her. She is widely known as being disrespectful within the team.

    Advice to Management

Terrible leadership leading to a awful and toxic culture in our department.

I have been working at Celgene full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Used to be innovative
Prior management (which is all removed) had more experience, more EQ, better business sense, some remanents of a positive culture left
    Good pipeline, more in I&I

    Cons

Demonstrate very little value in employees
    Reduction in equity for all
Current management does not have sufficient experience for what is being asked
No human element to the communications or changes

    Advice to Management

Take better stock of your employee pool
Ask employees for feedback before making sweeping, futile changes
Try to understand what employees are going through
Try to be accommodating and flexible, not expect business as usual right away

More careful screening of who gets hired. Monitoring of how managers are doing their job.

I worked at Celgene full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and if you worked there prior to 2013, fantastic stock! Work was challenging and rewarding, always something new.

    Cons

Have watched people who have been there for eight years get passed up for countless promotions because they weren't favorites. Watched new employees who were there with one years worth of service, nasty attitudes and extremely little knowledge, get promoted over far superior employees with a vast knowledge and seniority. Culture has turned into a gossip and rumor mill, Chemistry department in Phoenix has countless supervisors and managers who are an absolute joke; they cannot do anything without holding numerous time wasting meetings. My supervisor got promoted three times in one year while I got one promotion in five years which they ultimately took back after devising a ridiculous career ladder. Leaving there was the best career move I ever made. The chemistry department is an absolute joke, too many chefs and not enough cooks, they thrive on bickering and confrontation.

    Advice to Management

Grow up. Become mentors to your people instead of adversaries. Retire. Your time is up, you are a bunch of educated fools. Listen to your people instead of always brushing them off and ignoring them.

I have been working at Celgene full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are comparable to other pharmas I've worked in. Lots of light shown on patients.

    Cons

They talk the stock up a lot during offer process but it's only good to those that started here 10 yrs ago. No summer hours or holiday shut down. Culture is turning into big pharma. Favoritism runs rampant through all departments. People get promoted based off popularity vs hard work/talent.

    Advice to Management

They need to be careful of the current leadership across the org because it's why the culture change is happening. Most individuals are looking out for themselves and have their own agendas, including my HR partners.

I worked at Celgene (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Company with a great cause and purpose.

    Cons

This is a biopharmaceutical company that saves peoples lives that is obviously growing tremendously. The contract workers consist of a majority of the employess who are the most hardworking and loyal people I know. They are not rewarded or even offered any benefits. Which is ironic. The management is terrible . My experience was not a good one. After speaking to HR about being in a toxic department with some abusive managers they did nothing to correct the situation. I am no longer working there despite the rave reviews I received from my other bosses. I do not recommend this company.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to the lack of Management and bring your company up to speed. My gut feeling is that this company will be bought out in two years. The systems are not up to speed and the people who are amazing should be recognized. Do not be afraid of change as it is the future to survive in the industry!!

    Pros

If you ever get hired, you'll have to do nothing for great benefits and stock options. You don't really need to know much to be a valued employee

    Cons

They make sure everyone knows you are contractor by putting (non-Celgene) in your email address, the directory at every turn there is an employee to ask/tell you what work needs to be done. But don't expect any help, input or even instructions - but there is not shortage of people to critique what you

    Advice to Management

Time to rethink your entire approach to IT, especially IT middle management
