Relaxed environment with nice colleagues. Friendly staff and a lot of contacts with no opening for a full time positions.

    Cons

Always new management to report to due to restructuring. Huge difference between full time employees and contractors in front of management but not between colleagues.

    Pros

For Sun Valley, I'm sure it's the best gig around. Good benefits, very good pay, low workload. Overall, a good job.

    Cons

Lack of outside experience from management leads to work being governed by tribal knowledge and a 'mind reader culture'. High expectations from employees, but little structure.

    Pros

Employees feel like what we do matters. Company culture is very focused on patients.

    Cons

Very top-heavy organization. Management styles vary considerably; some groups have higher morale than others because of this.

    Pros

Celgene is a great company with a wonderful vision and truly has a passion for their patients. The company as a whole has an innovative way of approaching new therapies.

    Cons

VERY unprofessional management staff. Senior management is too busy to focus on representatives and doesn't seem to care about anything. Reps do not have a voice and there is little to no advancement opportunities, unless you are friends or relatives with management.

    Pros

The salaries and benefits are good

They are growing to big for their own good. Senior level management is not supportive and watch your back because you never know who will put a knife in it.

    Pros

Get to work and help people with life altering diseases.

    Cons

New leadership in HR and Operations have lost site of the staff below them. Management has made questionable decisions which has caused the stock price and total compensation to plummet. A lot of people are jumping ship...

Getting more like a big pharma rather than biotech in recent 2 yrs

    Pros

Stock option. RSU. 401(K) match is similar to any other pharma but in form of com stock. generous health care, prescription drug benefit.

    Cons

Recent 2 years, the company was undergoing tremendous culture change. The management team should know it and prob heard old folks talking quite a bit. In one sentence, Celg is more like 2 big pharma at Kenilworth, NJ (both 10 yr ago and now) rather than a biotech at Summit, NJ 10 yr ago. Go figure out who they are!

Recommend this Cult to your Worst Enemies! (JuMP)

Mar 20, 2021 - Manufacturing Associate in Bothell, WA
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Genuinely great people to work with in Manufacturing, great work relationships can be formed amongst Manufacturing Associates.

    Cons

High Turnover in key Manufacturing Roles, lack of experienced personnel Management often wastes lots of time in projects that makes the process more time consuming and less safe. Employees are the lowest priority. Burnout happens fast and often. People often backstab other people and put on a show to promote themselves. Heavy politicking and maneuvering at the expense of team cohesion and trust. The entire manufacturing department is just trying to escape to Process Development. Promotion only happens by sucking up to management. If someone in management doesn't like you, you won't go anywhere. Sexism, especially in management. Almost no women in supervisor or manager roles. Much harder to get projects approved as a woman. Non-existent work life balance. Expectation is for you to work more than you should by default. Unfair treatment between day and night shift. Communication between departments is poor, especially between Dexter and JuMP. People leading projects often have little hands on experience with the area they are trying to 'improve', leading to processes being made harder and less safe for the patient. Manufacturing personal are often treated like second class employees. Other departments dismiss manufacturing associates out of hand. Too many people brainstorming on projects, not enough people executing. Management will not hesitate to outright lie to keep employees in line. Lack of learning opportunities, fails to promote mentorship, only expect the role you signed up for. Culture clash between GMP as written versus GMP as intended. Throwing yourself on the sword is expected, but never recognized.
