"Unhealthy Work Environment Due to Management"

I worked at Cell Applications full-time

      Pros

Good exposure to cell culture techniques. Small company, so there's opportunities to expand your skillset beyond the job description.

      Cons

No room for upward growth. Though the company is technically GMP-certified, many of the technicians were not trained properly. Instead of being trained from the training log, beginning technicians simply learned by copying what the other technicians did. This led to many uncertainties, mistakes, and miscommunication between the new workers, experienced technicians, and management.

      Advice to Management

I've talked with fellow employees, and we all agree that the micromanagement is stifling. Instead of micromanaging and then getting upset with employees over mistakes that were made, seek to implement proper training to all of the technicians. It might take more work and time, but it is much more worth it in the long run.

I have been working at Cell Applications full-time

      Pros

The only pro was job security and mild benefits.

      Cons

Management is verbally abusive and doesn't listen to reasonable requests. They treat you more as servants than as people. There's no room to grow. The salary is very weak. I wouldn't recommend working here to my worst enemy.

      Advice to Management

Get off your high horse and listen to your employees!

I have been working at Cell Applications full-time for more than a year

      Pros

If you need experience doing cell culture work, this is a good place to start. They are willing to hire biology students without any experience.

      Cons

There seems to be little to no growth potential at this company and there seems to be a very high turnover. The longest seated employee has worked here for less than one year. The management is unwilling to be flexible on scheduling and willfully, purposefully and admittedly try to make their employees work late every day. There is no development of talent, organization of projects or appreciation of employees opinions/suggestions....

      Advice to Management

Develop talent instead of turning over employees to save $$. Be flexible with your employees, they will work harder for you if they're content. Don't dump work on employees last-minute, it gives them time to plan better and get more done. Don't overload your employees with work, if your employees have too much work and they don't get it done, it wastes money. You always have too many projects going at once, there is not...
