Current Employee - Marketing Intern in San Diego, CA

I have been working at Cell Applications

    Pros

As an intern Cell Applications I was given the opportunity to learn a lot about this field of business through entry-level projects. As a college student with no prior experience in marketing, Cell Applications is teaching me timeless skills that I will be able to use for the rest of my career.

    Cons

Although I am working less than part-time, I am able to choose the hours that I work.

I worked at Cell Applications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

As a new grad, it was a great place to learn about manufacturing and how the biotech industry works. I learned a lot about bench work and culturing finicky cell types.

    Cons

It's a small company so you are in close contact with people that you may or may not like.

    Advice to Management

The company is run like everyone is family. I felt like bad behavior was excused with certain employees.

I worked at Cell Applications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

salary for upper level employees was decent, but not for technicians

    Cons

I bet you anything that the last two reviews from "current employees" dated May 2015 are from the management. They will do anything to try and make the company appear better - except that they would not change the way they treat people. By the way, the benefits were also the worst I have ever had.

I have been working at Cell Applications full-time

    Pros

The only pro was job security and mild benefits.

    Cons

Management is verbally abusive and doesn't listen to reasonable requests. They treat you more as servants than as people. There's no room to grow. The salary is very weak. I wouldn't recommend working here to my worst enemy.

    Advice to Management

Get off your high horse and listen to your employees!

I have been working at Cell Applications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you need experience doing cell culture work, this is a good place to start. They are willing to hire biology students without any experience.

    Cons

There seems to be little to no growth potential at this company and there seems to be a very high turnover. The longest seated employee has worked here for less than one year. The management is unwilling to be flexible on scheduling and willfully, purposefully and admittedly try to make their employees work late every day. There is no development of talent, organization of projects or appreciation of employees opinions/suggestions....

    Advice to Management

Develop talent instead of turning over employees to save $$. Be flexible with your employees, they will work harder for you if they're content. Don't dump work on employees last-minute, it gives them time to plan better and get more done. Don't overload your employees with work, if your employees have too much work and they don't get it done, it wastes money. You always have too many projects going at once, there is not...

CAI has listened to the input provided several years ago regarding professional growth opportunities. Individuals within the company, at the technical staff level, have been provided opportunities to take on new, expanded roles and experiences to enrich their career progression.
