I have been working at Cell Signaling Technology full-time

    Pros

great work-life balance great benefits lots of options to advance a lot of opportunities to learn new things or cross-train in different areas, ultimately building your own resume.

    Cons

not all team members great to work with kind of a disconnect between upper management and other employees can sometimes get stuck in one job with a cap on pay for long periods of time depending on company needs

    Advice to Management

Try and connect more with lower management, like team and group leaders. Sometimes things get lost from the lower level employees all the way up the ladder to upper management.

    Pros

    Great work-life balance great location

    Cons

The company seems to have lost it's way. They are struggling to meet goals, and none of management is on the same page. HR has more than doubled and no one knows what they do. There is no interdepartment collaboration, development hates production, production hates development, and those in operations get treated the worst. Marketing/Sales and Production are the only groups rewarded. The company is... starting to move away from their standard of quality in favor of quantity... They pay FAR BELOW for the work done, and they keep reducing your take home pay, while telling you you make up for it in other areas. They prefer to hire fresh out of school talent so they can continue to pay less. There is literally 0 room for growth. Any promotions are given to managers favorites, no rhyme or reason for promotions. They refuse to give job descriptions so that they can always throw something out of the loop in your work flow.

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about the Boston globe survey and listen to your employees... While you still have them!

    Cons

It is more difficult to get regular day to day things done than it should be as processes are either not there or inconsistently applied. Also, while the company is extremely science focused (awesome) there is limited understanding of how the business operates across the company and a feeling of low perceived value to those in non-scientific roles. Hopefully, the newer leaders with commercial experience from... other companies will help evolve the company in these areas.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing on efforts to improve efficiency and processes in a way that makes them stick and have the most senior members of management provide clear and vocal support to the entire company on these initiatives . Management should continue to improve efforts to educate population on the workings of the business and emphasize the importance of the business focused roles in elevating the science, albeit indirectly.... It is very important in supporting the future growth that the company desires and should NOT be overlooked.

I have been working at Cell Signaling Technology full-time

    Pros

Excellent work/life balance Excellent benefits (401k match, PTO, health and dental are low cost to employee) Great culture Management encourages volunteering in the community and provides a paid volunteer day Fantastic location outside of the city. Commute is easy! Opportunities for career growth

    Cons

We are currently going through some "growing pains" which is expected as we move from being a small to medium sized company. I appreciate that HR and management have been working hard to assist with these employee concerns.

    Advice to Management

Keep talking to the people in the trenches and appreciate their thoughts and concerns. Reward hard work!

I worked at Cell Signaling Technology full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work/Life balance is awesome Opportunities to expand knowledge Genuine and Friendly People The people you work with are really great, and the culture is conducive to creative thought (relaxed enough to think, driven enough to be exciting).

    Cons

Low salaries for the area Each group varies depending on the director and managers, which can be a pro or a con

    Advice to Management

Management training helps a lot! Science expertise is fantastic, and marrying both in your management team would make a huge difference. Perhaps this has already happened since it's been a few years.
