Train store management better so that all the stores can thrive better

I have been working at Cellular Central full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Complaints about the company seem to be coming from people who had no place in a sales job. The closing percentage can be annoying when you have customers coming back with questions or even to simply thank you. However, if you are unable to sell to 20 of every 100 people you see, sales is not for you. If you're struggling to hit goals, including closing percentage, you are not immediately terminated. Management will work with you for quite some time before termination is even brought up. What people need to understand is that this is a sales job. Your job isn't to take orders or fix phones, it is to ethically discover a need and offer a solution. Management is as flexible as possible with you, if you work hard and do you job well you can do fairly well, plenty of opportunities to move up. Not to mention, it offers great experience and can be an excellent step towards even bigger opportunities.

    Cons

Some locations tend to be busier than others, goals are adjusted as such though. If you can't handle regular changes you will not do well, it's the nature of the business. A few small things but the pros far outweigh the cons.

    Pros

Working as a verizon retailer looks pretty good on a resume. You do have commission opportunities, but they are extremely hard to meet and are not that lucrative in comparison to many other authorized retailers.

    Cons

Upper management blames everything on its employees without listening to anything from said employees. They try to teach you to be the used car salesmen of phones. They preach to be honest with your customers, but they want you to constantly exaggerate the truth and try to trick your customers into buying things they either don't need or want. Would definitely not recommend working here until they go through some company wide management changes.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to make your salesman into liars and cheats to meet your ridiculous standards. Try to make your company an honest sales company for Verizon and something that your employees to be proud of.

    Pros

NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE

    Cons

Unpaid training, base pay is minimum wage, threshold to hit commission is extremely high, NO breaks, you are expected to work and not take any breaks including a lunch break, NO BENEFITS benefits offered are cheap for the company to offer but ridiculously expensive and unpractical for employees, cameras log how many customers you speak with and you must sell to at least 20% of those customers or you will be fired, you are discouraged from assisting customers with their technical support issues and instead trying to sell them something in a high pressure manner, selling customers things they don't need is highly encouraged, it's highly encouraged to tell customers their phone is broken while it's an easy fix and then pressuring them into buying something, phone and accessory prices are two to three times as much as you'd pay at a corporate store or Best Buy, shady and slimy salesman tactics are celebrated and encouraged, doing the right moral thing is frowned upon, extremely poor communication between employees and upper management, if you ever need to email someone at the main office with an issue you can expect your issue to never be addressed. This company has a very high turnover rate for a reason. I was there for over a year and was promoted but still did not get paid well enough for the huge amount of work I was doing. Complete idiots who have no idea how to run a store are quickly promoted to management if they're shady salesmen and make a lot of money for the owners. A lot of favoritism going on and if you're not favored you will get written up for the smallest things and those who are favored will get away with far worse without even a verbal warning. Management will lie to you in your interview and employees will lie to you when you start and tell you you can make a lot of money there but the majority of the time you will just be working 55-70 hours a week for MINIMUM WAGE. Awful work/life balance you can expect to be there from open to close everyday especially when you're an assistant manager. Steer clear of this place, it's just another sham for slimy business owners and upper management to capitalize off of hard workers doing all of their dirty work while they sit back and get paid while doing NOTHING and then hold all these threats above your head. Very high stress work environment, STEER CLEAR!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the close rate restrictions, allow your employees breaks, lower to threshold to hit commission and pay your employees more than minimum wage and you might be able to keep some of the good ones.

I worked at Cellular Central (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only pro as another poster said was the fact you can say you sell Verizon Wireless.

    Cons

Poor management, inventory not accessible when needed, poor communication, poor structure, overall a very poor company to even be associated with.

    Pros

The people you work with can be ok.

    Cons

There is little to no chance of ever hitting commission goals. If you do you can be sure the goals will be raised next month. Above all else commission rates start at less than 1%. Almost pointless for a place that, if you're lucky, you'll hit $7,000 in gross profit.

I worked at Cellular Central full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Literally the only pro I can think of is that it sounds good on a resume being able to say you worked at "Verizon Wireless" and have sales experience. Well, I guess it also helps that if you work here, you'll definitely appreciate your next job more.

    Cons

There is no structure as far as management goes. Very unprofessional and haphazardly run. Also, the company makes it almost near impossible to make commission, so don't be fooled by that "perk" in the job ad/interview. Barely any room for growth either, and in almost 3 loyal years working for them, I never got a raise. Very shady business tactics.

    Advice to Management

Treat the employees like actual people and APPRECIATE them. The sales reps are the ones that make you your money, so acknowledge their hard work instead of constantly focusing on negatives when there are positives to be seen. Also, maybe actually make it possible for the stores to make commission.

    Pros

Fun company to work for. Usually working with great people

    Cons

Micro manage, Micro manage, Micro manage. can i say it again? Pretty slimy sales techniques.

    Advice to Management

Background checks. Stop teaching your teams to be slimy salesman.
