- "What does their runway look like now that they've undergone two rounds of layoffs that were only spaced out across two months." (in 3 reviews)
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Great company, heavy focus on collaboration and innovation, senior leaders that care deeply about their employees' wellbeing and professional growth, generous benefits, a team that is always open to new ideas, and a business with a very prosperous outlook in the market
Cons
Not a negative, just a piece of advice... The team is widespread across multiple locations so all employees should make a conscious effort to connect with and understand what is happening within other teams or locations to help the culture remain consistent throughout and ensure best practices are being discussed and communicated across the entire organization.

A great place to make friends, not further your career

Any employee at Celtra will tell you that they stick around for the people. Employees band together over poor compensation, being overworked, and being fearful of when the next round of layoffs are coming. Outside of the Celtra community, people stick around for the benefits package which is admittedly great to somewhat justify the below market salaries.
Cons
As stated previously, Celtra salaries are not competitive, and due to business volatility bonus compensation is highly variable, if paid out at all. Celtra conducted multiple rounds of layoffs during 2022, and left many former employees unemployed at the holidays with sub-par severance packages. Poor compensation is standard, despite excessive company spending on an All Hands in Europe, various other Eurotrips, and cultural events such as Christmas parties less than two weeks after layoffs. Much of management at the mid-senior level is inexperienced and incapable of mentoring hardworking employees, and there is a total lack of a bottom up feedback loop. Executive Leadership also remains detached from the day to day, and is more focused on long term high level initiatives than solving customer problems and identifying product market fit, which has lead to large amounts of churn in 2022.

Make sure to ask the right questions when interviewing!
Dec 20, 2022 - Customer Facing RoleRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good benefits Larger team is willing to help but can only do so much - given a lot of recent internal upheaval the company is going through Have a decent foundation when it comes to their scaling software. However, the UI is way too cumbersome and a hassle for a lot of their user base. Celtra is having to completely overhaul the look and feel as a result and the rollout will bring a whole slew of problems (as the new interface will be rolled out in stages).
Cons
Had two rounds of layoffs across the fall and left employees fending for themselves. Not that every company within tech can provide extensive severance packages, but the way Celtra went about it was appalling. Ask the right questions when interviewing, specifically as it pertains to the long-term health of the company. What does their runway look like now that they've undergone two rounds of layoffs that were only spaced out across two months. How will the updated UI rollout affect onboarding and what do their customer retention goals look like for 2023 (a major issue that the company was dealing with across 2022).

Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback. We know that the Company’s decision to eliminate roles in H2 2022 was extremely challenging, especially for the talented employees whose roles were eliminated. The Company offered post-separation benefits to all employees who were impacted, and the Company and managers remain willing to support our former colleagues as they pursue their next career endeavors. During the hiring process we always strive to share the realistic outlook of the organization at that time. Unfortunately, those outlooks do change and we must address this for the health of the organization longer term. Although H2 2022 involved a number of difficult changes, we are optimistic about our 2023 product releases and the team that will be working to push the Company to the next level. While we have limited job openings at the moment, we encourage candidates to ask any and all questions they may have as we interview over the course of the year and in the future. We do take pride in our level of transparency and honesty during interviews, regardless of the answer.

Pros
Most of the non-management employees are hard working and collaborative. "We're in the trenches together" mentality. International employees offer great perspective.
Cons
After 2 rounds of layoffs in 2022 which saw massive increase in workloads for those remaining and many talented people without income, the CEO told the company that on his beginning of year email that the and his wife (who is also an executive at Celtra) that they had spent the break in Bali on a yoga retreat. This is an example of the out-of-touch managerial behavior from leadership at every level. Do not expect to be treated as an individual. Career growth is unobtainable at this company due to consistent revenue underperformance. Revenue is low not due to macroeconomic reasons, but due to overly ambitious and naive goals set in collaboration with STG (private equity holding partner), and due to an overpriced product that is on the verge of total redundancy as competitors are more agile to achieve product market fit. Resignations at leadership in every department, including Product, have left a vacuum that won't be plugged for some time, with no clear vision or solution in sight. 2023 will need to be a year for significant pivoting, or STG will continue to eliminate roles and eventually the only remaining talent will be overworked and underenthused.

We are grateful for your feedback and would encourage you to address these matters directly with your manager, Executives, and the HR team as everyone at Celtra is encouraged to co-create our culture. We know that the actions taken by the company in H2 2022 were extremely challenging, most of all for the talented employees whose roles were eliminated, but also for those who remain part of our organization and have taken on additional work. The Company does not view this as the long term solution, but a short term investment of extra time and effort to set us on a stronger path in the future. We remain optimistic about our 2023 product releases and the team that will be working to push the Company to the next level. For the past few years Celtra has offered all employees a recharge period at the end of the year, which many employees take advantage of by traveling and resetting for the year ahead. At Celtra we believe recharging in whatever way is best for that employee is important, and although it is not possible for everyone in the Company to take off the full recharge period, we provide additional PTO for those who provide coverage during the recharge period. Sharing the importance of taking time off and doing activities that rejuvenate us along with our families is part of our company culture. We hope that you will engage in what we believe is the exciting path that Celtra has ahead of it and we again encourage you to discuss any concerns you may have with your manager, Executives, or HR as we are always open to employee feedback.

Mostly great people but more than one bad seed within the company
Mar 21, 2022 - Customer SuccessRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There are tons of people I love working with around the globe. There are some gems in this company that will really stick their neck out for you. There's also a lot of change going on which means there's tons of opportunity for new people.
Cons
Management is poor and lacks leadership across the board. There's a lot of politics when it comes to speaking up. Depending on who you are and who you work for, you will be either treated nicely or poorly. It's disappointing that women who speak up are seen as emotional when they are just speaking their minds. Management is hesitant to advocate for their employees and you have to fight in order to get what you deserve.

Pros
Great benefits; wfh stipend for set up, internet/phone reimbursement. Flexible to work from anywhere.
Cons
Disorganized, still a start up mentality and ad hoc. Lots of playing the game; say one wrong thing to the wrong person and that’s it. Felt like high school in that the people that have been there forever are the cool kids and they don’t want to hear what the newbies have to say. Very stuck in the way things have been working and resistant to change and improvement!
