I worked at Cementos Argos full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Driving job is actually fun(when the trucks are working). Most drivers are helpful and courteous to one another. Benefits begin after 60 days

    Cons

Mandatory work week 65-70 hours, M-Sat. There's barely enough time daily to get home, shower, eat, & sleep for 7 hours. 1 day off a week and always sleepy. High demands, high pressure, negative daily depressing-gloomy work environment resulting in work moral rock bottom. Dispatch dept. is waist of company $. Also, 1st year assigned to old(10-14 years), worn out, unsafe trucks that breakdown weekly, sometimes daily. Most company mechanics are substandard, over worked, over stressed and cranky. All this for $15/hr. Eventually, all say "Uncle" and quit.

    Pros

There are no pros with this company

    Cons

This was a great company before it went to pay by the load. Im supposed to make $19 / hour but now its pay by the load i make approximately $10/hour. Dispatch are in control of how much money you make. They send you all over central florida with one load so that you waste your time. You end up working 15 hour days and getting 2-3 loads a day. If you speak up in meetings then you get threatened by managment. You cant go to HR because they are the same way. I pray that I find work elsewhere.

I have been working at Cementos Argos

    Pros

No pros for a large ready mix company

    Cons

Pay by load my average wage has been as low as 10.00 hr. The busiest plant in SW Fl. voted in the union. They make money even with pay by load. The other plants struggle to keep drivers rolling.I average 2-3 loads a day. Thats a 10 12 hr. day.100 -150 bucks a day. Dispatch does nothing to even out loads or cares to do something. Driver favorites get good fast loads if you speak up you arent a favorite.this is a blatent method to reduce employee wage by 30% period. With the company taking it all the way to the bank. Upper management is the Fl. Rock guys that have thr same operation they have had the last 20 yrs. And this division is that far behind the curve. We have been told if you dont like it...theres the door. Nice mentallity fellas. Employees make a company money. Customers are al complaining about service issues. But concreteprices continue to rise. We dont even give good service to the big customers. It is an unbelievable continuing blunder of what made Fl. Rock go out of business to start with. Wish it wasnt so....but it is

I have been working at Cementos Argos full-time

    Pros

Going home at the end of the day

    Cons

This job is a living hell , management is nasty and dictator like . They want us to work 14 to 15 hours a day and come back in 10 , no rest or family time at all. Everyone driver that is a pro has quit or is making plans to quit. Dispatch and plant managers are pushing drivers to get out the gate faster because they don,t have enough drivers ,speed not safety , profit and managment bonuses are far more important.
