I have been working at Cementos Argos full-time

    Pros

Being a part of the Union has made this job a keeper!!! Great benefits. Their starting pay is $21.50 here. You are able to make an excellent living for your family.

    Cons

Just the nature of the job requires long and at times odd hours.

I have been working at Cementos Argos full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits including an annual allowance for safety boots and a cheap uniform program; Large company with a huge focus on safety and sustainability. Good balance between work and personal life; M-F 10 hours a day is most common.

    Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities tops the list. The company tends to hire from the outside for management and supervisory positions instead of internally promoting those whom have worked hard for years to obtain such positions. They also hire a bunch of foreign visa workers instead of filling with locally, skilled labor. Pay is low compared to related jobs at other plants. Lack of communication between management and hourly employees, the top level management seems out of touch. They tend to place blame and punish those who are hurt on the job, regardless of whether the injured employee can prevent the injury or not. There is also a huge lack of training and certification programs, and results in a less informed workforce. Would be a lot better if unionized.
