"Corporate inertia. This company is too big and unwieldy to be agile. Resistant to change."

I worked at Cengage Learning full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Friendly working environment. Competitive salary.

    Cons

Antiquated culture brought over from companies before acquisition. Poor financial management practices. Inertia at all levels. Middle management spends more time on politics with peers than with management or advancing company goals.

    Advice to Management

Find out what's really going on your business. Allow professionals to actually do their jobs.

I worked at Cengage Learning full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I liked many of the people I worked with. I was proud to work on educational materials used by thousands of students.

    Cons

Used to be flexible regarding telecommuting, but have gone backwards on this issue. Little opportunity for advancement/salary increases. Bullies running the show. Lack of respect for experience. Arbitrary corporate goals with no basis in reality.

    Advice to Management

Change for change's sake has lost you many good employees.
