I worked at Center Parcs (UK) part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good benefits including day passes, discounted activities etc
    - Rewards for long standing employees
    - Flexible when moving between departments if job doesn't suit

    Cons

    - Department managers (in some restaurants) can be poor
    - Morale can be low

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to department managers and individual managers of outlets as things sometimes do not run as smoothly as they may seem.

    Pros

    Great benefits
    Great team
    Seeing nature everyday is lovely
    Bus provided to work

    Cons

Working bikes would be good for staff

    Advice to Management

Providing the right equipment and working makes the job easier.

    Pros

Extra perks such as day passes and even vouchers and hampers at Christmas time. These perks make up for the minimum wage.

    Cons

Expectations exceed what they pay employees. Unless you utilise your perks the job is not worth doing.
There is no real promotion within Center Parcs unless you already have the qualifications and skill base.

    Advice to Management

Recognise the hard work your housekeeping staff do. They are underpaid and verbally abused in reviews by guests who know that if they complain, Center Parcs will bend over backwards to avoid/ rectify complaints.

I have been working at Center Parcs (UK) full-time

    Pros

The benefits are great working for them, with all the discounts on food and short breaks you are able to have. You can easily move up the ranks if you put the work in within the company.

    Cons

Depending on which department you are in, the pay may not be good for the work effort you have to put in. Coordination within departments, such as HR, may lack sometimes but this all depends on individuals.
Some expectations from higher management are so improbable to achieve without sufficient help they should provide.

    Advice to Management

Look after your lower staff well and they will look after your guests even better. Genuine appreciation goes a long way.

I worked at Center Parcs (UK) part-time

    Pros

Perks and holiday discount. Some lovely people who work incredibly hard.

    Cons

Awful culture of management surrounding themselves with sychophants, very outdated work practices, still use signing in sheets - supposed to be an environmentally friendly company.

Very poor wages and a distinct inequality across the company i.e Housekeeping supervisors (overwhelmingly female) who manage teams of up to 20 people inc performance, holiday management etc are paid less than basic maintanence assistants (overwhelmingly male).

    Lack of development structure.

Housekeeping across Center Parcs is dreadfully understaffed yet nothing is changed, your system is obviously not working so change it before you lose even more good staff!

    Advice to Management

Stop surrounding yourselves with sychophants and instigate some much needed change.

If ever a company needed to do "Undercover Boss" it is this one!!

I worked at Center Parcs (UK) full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You got discount on overpriced products (food, clothing)

    Cons

You are a slave for a very poor wage, 12 hour shifts, 1 day off a week. If you are a good worker your management will put more work load on you than you other colleges creating a unhealthy work environment. Customers pay huge amounts of money to be disappointed with facilities.

    Advice to Management

    none

I worked at Center Parcs (UK) (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits like discounted holidays, days out on Village and in the spa, a great Head Office Christmas party, hampers, team building etc. Fantastic brand to work for, lovely guests and a great product.

    Cons

Too many managers - it is very management heavy and everyone wants to know and be involved with every little details so making a decision involves a committee! Very much a clique environment, sometimes only the 'cool kids' would allowed to be involved on projects. Secret 'what's app' groups and senior managers didn't seem to care that others felt excluded or bullied. The pay is poor compared to industry but people stay because of the brand and benefits. It's getting harder to convince guests that they are getting value for money as prices have risen beyond belief and there still needs to be a lot of investment in facilities and accommodation.

    Advice to Management

Recruit for behaviour, train for skill! Do what you say! People want to learn and grow so invest in your loyal staff rather than recruiting new people and leaving the loyal lower grades behind. Directors need to speak to the junior managers and execs to look at succession planning.

I worked at Center Parcs (UK) part-time

    Pros

When you join Center Parcs you attend an induction session lasting two days, which is a great opportunity to learn about the company and their values in a fun and interactive way.
Whilst working at Center Parcs you continuously have training sessions to keep upto date with the companies policy on customer service/health and safety etc.
The perks of the job are great - you get to use all the facilities and can welcome your friends onto site with the pass they give you. You also get discount off food and in the shops! For example I could use the gym when ever I wanted and buy clothing and watches etc. at a discount price.

    Cons

As a team member such as a waitress/cashier your job can be very similar on a daily basis! Also at the site I worked at, the carpark was a 20 minute walk from my restaurant which is added time you have to account for.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing! I thoroughly enjoyed working here, however after going from a part time contract to a zero hour contract, you did terminate my contract without contacting me, which I thought was a bit out of order since I had worked at the company for four years!

I worked with a great team, hard work and lots of fun.

    Relatively well paid
    Good bonus scheme

    Cons

I left a few years ago and can't think of any cons!
