Pros
great mission; great office; great environment
Cons
I can't think of anything other than low pay
- Former Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
interesting educational experience, some recreational time with the kids
Cons
my caseload was, from the start, teens who were highest physical risk, several of whom did not communicate verbally. frequent injuries that went unaddressed or downplayed by HR, management, and were normalized by peers. very little practical training regarding best practices and safety techniques prior to being put in the field with the expectation of being able to use restraint during emergencies. often put in situations where the teens were in danger (i.e. running into the street or having a meltdown leading to physical injury) that we were expected to manage. frequent pressure to change/increase hours in schedule regardless of other commitments. low pay for the number of bruises, bite marks, and cuts I accumulated in just a few months. this company is out to make a profit, not champion the rights and dignity of folks on the spectrum or to protect its direct service employees.

We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a good experience at CARD. You were unhappy about your support. To that, we would encourage all Behavior Technicians to reach out to their Therapist Liaison or supervisor(s) for support and guidance with any issues they may experience. Additional resources include Site Operations Managers, Clinical Supervisors and Regional Managers. We have many dedicated individuals who are here to offer support to their CARD family.
