    Best young professional community in Washington, DC

    Cons

    Salaries are low but that's typical of all think-tanks / non-profits. Value is measured not my personal salary but exposure and experience at the center of foreign affairs

    Pros

    Great experience and organizational culture, access to experts and ability to have a direct impact on foreign policy issues. Many aspects of the job vary depending on the program you work for.

    Cons

    Can be high stress at times, and pay is not always commensurate with amount of responsibility. The nature of the think tank environment means that there is not a lot of opportunity to advance which results in high turnover at lower levels within the organization.

    Ability to be part of a global team, accessibility to many opportunities, people, networks, events. Travel opportunities. Good retirement benefits - match after two years of service. Very diverse and stimulating place to work.

    Cons

    Very low salary, lack of strong leadership and management.

    Please pay employees a livable salary in order to afford (and survive) in today's economy.
