I worked at CenterPoint Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The starting pay is GREAT for a Customer Service Position. The opportunity to work in other areas is there and also the opportunity for advancement. If you like overtime- there is usually ALOT of it offered, especially during cold weather seasons but the best part is when you work overtime, the company feeds you free lunch :-)

    Cons

There is quite a bit of favoritism within management. The job can be very demanding and stressful, the goals and expectations sometime seem unrealistic. And the calls can get extremely overwhelming: 100s of calls in queue, irate customers demanding to speak with supervisors, Quality Call Monitors that expect PERFECT calls, etc..Also, you are required to be "on call" every so often. If there is inclement weather, you WILL be REQUIRED to come in and work at least 12 hours; hence no work/life balance at all

    Advice to Management

Stop the favoritism. Just because someone is popular-it does not make them the best man/woman for the job. Train the team leads to be consistent and on the same page. Sometimes the job expectations vary, depending on whose team you are on. That is not good business practice. Hire more professional team leads and supervisors- the ones you have now fight and gossip more than the reps on the floor...that is extremely tacky and unprofessional

I have been working at CenterPoint Energy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Great benefits. Flex- time. Competent CEO.

    Cons

Didn't take my previous experience in the industry into account when hired because I hadn't worked for a utility in the past. Two decades in the regulatory world in the gas and power business counted for nothing, but I really needed the job.

I have been working at CenterPoint Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Enjoy working with business clients. Although things have changed drastically in the past five years - making it extremely difficult to get anything done.

    Cons

New I.T. Leadership has made it difficult to service our clients. There is too much bureaucracy, governance, and policy that it makes it extremely difficult to get anything done in a timely manner. The clients are choosing to outsource rather than jump through the internal hoopla.

    Advice to Management

    Why?
