I have been working at Central 1

    Pros

Decent Pay/vacation, cafeteria and gym in house, tons of interaction between different leadership levels, open and collaborative, lots of healthy corporate culture and HR is very attentive

    Cons

Can be hectic during major movements but ebbs and flows reasonably, a little out of the way in terms of location

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you’re doing!

I worked at Central 1 full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    35 hour work week, location

    Cons

On the advice of consultants, they hire people with qualities that they want to slowly change culture with, but dont support the new hires when they bring those qualities to work. For example, if you dont happen to fall in with management or the current influential people, and you speak up, are open, take initiative, or help others, you are told that you are causing problems, distracted, and not focusing on your work,...

    Advice to Management

Advice to owners/credit unions (appealing to management is a lost cause): I'm not sure how to fix cultural problems that run so deep. The only thing I can imagine working is giving up on Central 1 and forming something new while being very, very careful if hiring anyone from Central 1, especially any big fish. I hate to say that because there are good decent people working at Central, but they will be hard to identify...

I have been working at Central 1 full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Work/life balance, good people, decent opportunities for learning new things

    Cons

Management does not trust staff, contractors brought in at high level management roles are bullying staff

    Advice to Management

Walk around and actually talk to your staff about the good and the bad, instead of simply firing off email when things go wrong. Get rid of the overpriced management consultants and build your own people up. Trust the people who believe in, and have put their hearts and souls into making something of this organization.

Thanks for your comments and it’s nice to hear that you enjoy the Central 1 community and work/life balance. It’s a shame you feel that way about management. We believe very strongly that empathy is a critical skill for leaders, and we are trying to build a culture that is rooted ...

I worked at Central 1 full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Plenty of vacation but should you stay at a place simply because of the amount of time you're not there?

    Cons

Taking advantage of CUs to pay consultants. Staff not the most important part of C1. Profits above all else. Run by bankers.
