"Mix of "Family & Corporate" Attitude so it's what the boss says, goes and doesn't care if laws are broken. Case by Case."

I worked at Central Amusement International full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

It's an amusement park, it should be fun. The management team is fun, nice and willing to help whenever necessary. It can feel like a family (but remember it's still work) and sometimes I think people forgot so attitudes could get nasty and ruthless. It's still a startup so management learns as they go and upper management is willing to hear opinions and suggestions to try to make the company better. They give so much...

    Cons

They chose when they want to treat the company as corporate and then other times as a family. They will break HR rules like not paying for a sick day until they've accrued it but it depends on who it is. They will overwork you and make you do 50+ hours from Memorial day wknd to Labor day wknd (no overtime pay) The GM is a jerk and such a hypocrite. No bonus (case by case on people). Unorganized and still trying to get...

    Advice to Management

All policies should be equal across all employees. Start investing in the management team to help them grow by taking them to workshops and events. Stop spreading the management team too thin. Create a better work/life balance. Pay well and give yearly increases and bonuses.

    Pros

    Is this a trick question?

    Cons

Luna Park could have been an amazing experience - a thought soon repelled by abusive managers, racist owners and the most incompetent coworkers - which could easily be replaced by chimpanzees with better typing and analytical skills. Management are the most abhorrent, dysfunctional, angering and idiotic human beings that could possibly run a theme park. It’s as if someone scraped the bottom of the unemployment barrel...

    Advice to Management

You don't get free advice out of me - not after under paying me - anything I say that is beneficial will cost you.

I have been working at Central Amusement International full-time

    Pros

The people I met, nice to go to the beach, 2 tickets free per month, looks ok on your resume

    Cons

Total Crap, The food discount is unrealistic, When you are an employee your food will not be made effectively, although you pay like everyone else, Supervisors are a joke, short breaks (30 minutes, you'll spend 10-15 of that waiting for your order), Mandatory to work summer holidays (Good luck with those 12+ hour shifts and a 30 minute break. When they're ready they'll let you go. Trust me.

    Advice to Management

Be nice. For Once? Prepare yourself for for disrespect. I needed a job, so I took the job and I thought Coney island? OMG sure. It was fun until reality hit. Would I do it again? NO. NO. and again NO. You'd have to pay a lot more. Stop being so disgusting towards people. perhaps you wouldn't have such a high turnover rate. stop belittling workers.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Central Amusement International part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Alot of hours in July and August

    Cons

The managers treat employees like slaves, they dont care about your personal problems, It is very hot and they are very inconsiderate to that as they sit up in their air conditioned offices, many employees have passed out on the job and they barely helped them.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like human beings and be fair in every aspect.

I have been working at Central Amusement International full-time

    Pros

Definite room to grow in rapidly expanding company. CAI is part of an international ride manufacturer and has opportunities across the world.

    Cons

Compensation is poor for the amount of hours required. Management values criticism over collaboration and pits employees against each other.

    Advice to Management

Put more value into employees. Create policies that help with work/life balance.

I worked at Central Amusement International full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

When you work on the beach the warmer months are great. There are some moments where the work doesn't seem useless.

    Cons

The management at Luna Park are easily the largest group of incompetent managers I have ever come across. Everyone seems to be promoted to the point of failure. As a result it was clear from the beginning that Luna Park continues to exist because it is not an amusement park for the people of New York City and those who visit, but instead a showroom and plaything for the megalomaniacal owner of the parent company. Advice to Management

Please leave managing to real managers and stop cheating on your spouses with employees and flaunting it at company parties. It does more to damage morale at the company to know that we dislike our jobs and we also are expected to keep your secrets.
