I worked at Central Arizona College part-time

    Pros

Fantastic position that is incredibly rewarding and engaging. Helping other students pass a test or improve their grade is an awesome feeling. In addition, if it is a slow day, you have an opportunity to work on your homework. All the other tutors are great to talk to and are more than willing to help if you get stuck on a question.

    Cons

Some students expect you to more or less do their homework for them or are only there because their class requires it but you'll learn how to handle these students. However, a great majority of students who come to you really want help and are willing to put in the effort.

I worked at Central Arizona College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Above average pay - per level of education
    Friendly staff and faculty
    Clean, Respectful Work Environment

    Cons

The hard part of working for Central Arizona College is the varied locations that they have - and having to travel in some cases to work limited hours.

    Advice to Management

Please remember that not everyone is able to travel 20+ miles for a 3-4 hour shift, and asking an employee to do so is not in keeping with respectful atmosphere of the college.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

The benefits are good. It's very easy to look good.

    Cons

This is the most politically charged, under-lead community college in Arizona. It's a total career and psyche cruncher. They give you jobs you can only fail at.

    Advice to Management

It's time to start hiring people more talented than yourselves.

I worked at Central Arizona College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Seems like a slower pace of life

    Cons

Far drive from Phoenix to any of their campuses. Seems to have no organizational structure, somewhat free form.

    Pros

Benefits are good for health and dental and if you or your family wants to go to school the tuition is free.

    Cons

Political environment, bad working moral, favoritism, hard to climb the ladder, the pay could be much better. I would look elsewhere

    Advice to Management

    Be fair.

I have been working at Central Arizona College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gayle Haro was a great boss to work for, a lot of good communication and taught me a lot. I think I learned more from that job than any job I've had prior.

    Cons

It can be hard to get things changed from the top. A lot of red tape like anything which isn't helpful if you want to improve the school.

I worked at Central Arizona College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Was a good professional work environment. And for the most part was a low stress environment. Most of the people that I worked with were just good people. As far as the job goes and the people. I was happy.

    Cons

The pay was not astronomical, but along with another job, it took care of me for that time of my life.
