    Positive Outlook

I worked at Central Carolina Technical College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everybody knows each other and supportive.

    Cons

State agency so no bonus and cost of living raise is dependent on legislative decision.

I have been working at Central Carolina Technical College full-time

    Pros

Instructor pay is well for South Carolina pay, and there is a generally supportive administration and culture. The president knows your name and you are generally greeted with a smile by colleagues. State benefits are pretty good. Instructors have Fridays off usually.

    Cons

Students are difficult to work with. There is "drama" sometimes with colleagues. Departmenta can be unorganized with schedules or last-minute with updates. Course loads can be a bit heavy.

    Advice to Management

Don't overwork your people. Most instructors genuinely like working there, but have gotten worn down over time and are starting to operate like robots.

I have been working at Central Carolina Technical College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Experiencing new things and people everyday

    Cons

No room for growth. If you work for them, you are stuck in that position. Unless you move to a different area

    Advice to Management

Hire within and that way you can keep employees

I have been working at Central Carolina Technical College (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Relaxed environment depending on the department. Getting to know the students and helping them find their way during their educational journey can be rewarding.

    Cons

Not much room for growth unless you switch departments. Very hard to go from full-time contract to full-time permanent position unless you change departments or leave and then come back.

I worked at Central Carolina Technical College full-time

    Pros

Students are very kind and motivating.

    Cons

Middle management is not fair, and don't go to HR thinking that they are there to help you; they are there to incriminate you and side with middle and upper management.

    Advice to Management

Your managers are not always correct, and if employees are coming with legitimate concerns LISTEN and try to help the employee not just middle and upper management!

    Pros

Hours, Flexibility and Promotion possibility. Great place to retire for those that want to live in a rural area and be a big fish in a little sea.

    Cons

Hours means working long days and teaching night classes. Students are terrible and motivation for them to learn is very poor. The area has very little support for anything we teach. Very rural. Air Force base keeps things alive there but no students from there since they are always moving.

    Advice to Management

None other than please move into the correct century. Also quit relying on SHAW Air Force base, they are not sending us active students, only the ones retired etc.

    Pros

Employees respect each other. Everyone including your manager appreciate your work.

    Cons

Always working 2 people jobs due to short staff. Stressful as many projects in line....

    Advice to Management

Strategic planning align with resource planning. Too many projects planned with less staff. It gets completed but puts lot of pressure on current employees.
