    Pros

Great coworkers that are both encouraging and supportive
    Always retains a welcoming atmosphere

    Cons

Pay may be a bit further from the national median, but it is understandable (somewhat) considering Hawaii's typical pay scale.

    Advice to Management

    Should take management class.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Bank provides credit training needed to excel at local financial institutions
    - Central Pacific Bank is a structured organization (clear responsibilities)
    - Convenient location, corporate offices are located in downtown Honolulu

    Cons

    - Upper-level management does not allow employees to take on added responsibilities even if candidate is willing and able
    - Poor compensation (unlivable wages); management believes in giving away titles as opposed to monetary raises (as "promotions" are free)

    Advice to Management

Employees feel that upward mobility within Central Pacific Bank is limited. Upper-level management tends to hire external candidates instead of hiring from within.

I worked at Central Pacific Bank full-time

    Pros

The people in my department were friendly and fun. It was also fun when we did those community events and bank events.

    Cons

Management has a hard time keeping employees at the bank. They dump lots of work on you but not willing to recognize you with increased pay or promotion. We are in the 21st century but their style is from banking In the 20th century.

    Advice to Management

You need to do a better job recognizing employee contributions. The workforce is different from 25 years ago and need to adapt to the changes. You need to take an introverted look at yourself to figure out why employees are leaving rather than blaming others.

I have been working at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Customers are really awesome and appreciative (most of the time). A lot of the people are nice, great benefits and the company does try really hard to make you feel appreciated as an employee.

    Cons

Favoritism. Co workers can do the bare minimum and still get paid more than hard workers. There is a lot of nepotism within the bank as well. Turnovers are so often - but that's with any bank.

    Advice to Management

Rewrite training programs, focus on hiring quality candidates.

I worked at Central Pacific Bank (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are some teams that truly care about working together to solve a problem or serve the customer.

    Cons

Micromanagers are the norm. Regardless of the situation, HR will always side with and support manager. Multiple reorgs and management changes. Performance reviews by panel of managers that have never interacted with you.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging. Trust and empower employees to do their jobs.
