I have been working at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are decent.
Can move up fast because of massive turnover.

    Cons

Weak inexperienced executive management from the very top levels. Lots of micromanaging. Does not value its employees and hence morale is very low. Poor disrespectful treatment of employees is tolerated. Its most valuable experienced people are continually leaving and hence a huge brain drain on CPB. Difficulty attracting good people.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people. Denial is not a good strategy. Don’t promote people who have a history of mistreating employees and co-workers. People skills are a basic skill necessary to manage people and for the organization to succeed. Some execs cannot be rehabilitated. Stop beating a dead horse and cut your losses. Only then can things improve.

I worked at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great hours of work. Paid health-insurance and benefits.

    Cons

Customer Service can sometimes be somewhat problematic. Can't please everyone especially if they're obnoxious or angry.

    Advice to Management

The best advice I can give to the management is to take care of the people working under you. They work for the company constantly pleasing the customers day in and day out. They are the backbone of the company.

I worked at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing really comes to mind with this bank. My coworkers in my department were lovely and hard working. Can’t say the same for the managers.

    Cons

Bad management. Poor leadership all the way to the top of the food chain. Executive leadership is either ignorant or complicit in what is really going on within the company. Either way it marks poor leadership that sets the tone for the rest of the organization. Mid level managers do not actually manage their employees. Employees are working and doing the job of the managers, and managers are ignorant on the actual workings within their department. Furthermore, many good employees were purged from the organization through toxic tactics designed for them to either voluntarily resign from the bank or given impossible standards designed for them to fail in order to forcibly remove employees. Basically there is no accountability nor is their any resource for the employees to turn to make their lives easier within the company. In addition to poor management, the pay for the company is a joke. Favoritism is clearly shown and certain departments are elevated above others despite all the work the employees put in. No recognition of certain departments and employees while the favorite employees and departments receive all the credit for their “hard” work. There is a reason this bank is behind all of the other banks. The worst leadership that I have ever seen. Management and Executives= Incompetence.

    Advice to Management

Learn to actually manage people. Either management is complicit or ignorant. Either way leadership is very poor and it speaks to the character of every individual as well as the company as a whole. The organization is toxic. Keep it up and the bank will end up collapsing.

    Pros

Great place to work. Very good initiatives and family oriented work place

    Cons

Don't care much for teller workers

    Advice to Management

Stop the churn for tellers they are front line workers but it takes so much time and training for all staff for new tellers
