I have been working at Central Pacific Bank full-time

    Pros

Very relationship oriented, they work with you. Anecdotally, better mobility than the other Hawaii Banks.

    Cons

No real cons, CPB is behind their competitors due to their history. They are rapidly gaining ground though, and a great employer regardless!

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I worked at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great hours of work. Paid health-insurance and benefits.

    Cons

Customer Service can sometimes be somewhat problematic. Can't please everyone especially if they're obnoxious or angry.

    Advice to Management

The best advice I can give to the management is to take care of the people working under you. They work for the company constantly pleasing the customers day in and day out. They are the backbone of the company.

I worked at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing really comes to mind with this bank. My coworkers in my department were lovely and hard working. Can’t say the same for the managers.

    Cons

Bad management. Poor leadership all the way to the top of the food chain. Executive leadership is either ignorant or complicit in what is really going on within the company. Either way it marks poor leadership that sets the tone for the rest of the organization. Mid level managers do not actually manage their employees. Employees are working and doing the job of the managers, and managers are ignorant on the actual workings within their department. Furthermore, many good employees were purged from the organization through toxic tactics designed for them to either voluntarily resign from the bank or given impossible standards designed for them to fail in order to forcibly remove employees. Basically there is no accountability nor is their any resource for the employees to turn to make their lives easier within the company. In addition to poor management, the pay for the company is a joke. Favoritism is clearly shown and certain departments are elevated above others despite all the work the employees put in. No recognition of certain departments and employees while the favorite employees and departments receive all the credit for their “hard” work. There is a reason this bank is behind all of the other banks. The worst leadership that I have ever seen. Management and Executives= Incompetence.

    Advice to Management

Learn to actually manage people. Either management is complicit or ignorant. Either way leadership is very poor and it speaks to the character of every individual as well as the company as a whole. The organization is toxic. Keep it up and the bank will end up collapsing.

I have been working at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company has good benefits, employee club events, etc. Everyone works well together in my area. Bank has come ways since their almost fall out years back.

    Cons

Like any company , keeping employees is always a challenge

    Advice to Management

Upgrades to banking system for ATMs and mobile app. HSFCU has a great app and BOH has a good ATM system for depositing

I worked at Central Pacific Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Excellent work environment.
Department management compromises the needs of the individuals and the company.
Flexible leave request depending on the needs of the department.

    Cons

Lack of staffing may impact employee morale.
The company has a lot of initiatives that make it difficult for any one project to gain significant traction.
Department managers should be further educated on the potential risks certain initiatives may have on the overall company.

    Advice to Management

I recommend management focus on 2 or 3 significant initiatives.
