    CPCC Financial Services Department

    Pros

The benefits of being full time are amazing. You have paid leave/sick time, holiday, inclement weather, etc. The retirement plans are great as well. You really do feel like a big family. Dysfunctional, yes, but still a family. A lot of people wouldn’t agree with me but with the benefits that the state offers, the pay isn’t that bad.

    Cons

Financial Services department only. Cons: 1) you have to know upper management to get ahead. Doesn’t matter if you have the degree, good and ETHICAL work habits, or the skills to get a job in this department. 2) There are only a few supervisors that actually lead and empower their employees. 3)no proper training and makes it hard and inconsistent across the board. Everyone is doing something different. 4) maternity) paternity leave is nonexistent but I believe that this is a state issue?

    Pros

As an employee of the college, you have several benefits that are extremely competitive. You receive sick time and vacation time. You also receive 12 paid holidays a year.

    Cons

Opportunities for growth aren't always available.

Avoid accepting part time employment here

    Jun 17, 2022 - Left Unstated

    Pros

    Schedule flexibility in some roles.

    Cons

Part time personnel are of next to no importance here. There is NEVER a raise. After 7 years in my current, highly responsible role I am making 30 cents an hour more than when I started. There is not one benefit offered. Not one day off with pay. We aren't even listed on the organizational chart. We are invisible. The president sends out an annual letter thanking full time employees for their stellar service and acknowledging their contributions to the college, along with an announcements of their small COA raises and an apology that since the raises are minimal, full time workers get an extra 5 days of paid leave. The part timers not only get nothing, but are not even acknowledged as contributors in the letters. It blows my mind. When this administration came into leadership, the whole college went through an expensive and complete rebranding, including repainting all buildings in new colors. Imagine how part time feels when they can't get even a small annual COA raise when so much can be invested in cosmetics. I'd never suggest anyone accept a part time position here unless desperate for employment. Because I'm close to retirement age, I remain rather than starting over somewhere else.

    Nice Professional Environment

Aug 26, 2020 - Adjunct Professor in Charlotte, NC

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    1. The college is excellent with a great diverse group of students. 2. The college is loyal to good professors 3. The college offers excellent facilities for professors and students

    Cons

There is an imbalance between full time and part time benefits. Part time cannot be included in the pension program where as previous colleges I taught at part timers were offered part time pension benefits.

  10. 4.0
    Current Employee

    Pros

lots of time off as a staff member management in my department is very sensitive to personal life job stability

    Cons

--little to no fitness centers or emphasis on employee health (i don't count the 1 mile walking routes which are tedious) --too many employees are brown-nosers, which is extremely annoying --working with some students can be frustrating at times --work can be repetitive --each campus can feel fragmented from the rest of the college. Hard to communicate or coordinate campus-wide projects
