I have been working at Central Texas Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This hospital sticks to its faith base, and also creates a "family-like" atmosphere. Because we are a smaller hospital, everyone knows everyone. So, communication between departments are easy with more face to face time, rather than sent electronically. There can never be enough communication, but CTMC achieves at covering different approaches.

CTMC is also not afraid to acknowledge hard workers, or great jobs. It might sound irrelevant because "it’s your job", but it means the world to have leadership recognize you when you done a great job or just went the extra mile.

CTMC Leadership is outstanding. This is one of the first places I work, where the leaders involve everyone on the team. They are not afraid to train employees for leadership role, while at the same time making sure those individuals meet the requirements for a leader. It’s not about "experience" at CTMC, because the only way you get that is with time. What CTMC looks for employees who are team players, and who communicate with not only employees but patients. CTMC does not let bias or favoritism play a role, but rather "is that individual the right person for the job". The leaders here focus and give you task based on your strengths, and at the same time strengthen your weak.
Coming to work here was probably one of the best career moves I have ever made.

One of the biggest pros I have seen at this hospital is CTMC's commitment to the community well being. Just about every function in San Marcos, Texas you can expect to see a CTMC booth or sponsor logo.

Leadership, including the CEO, come by and visit EVERY department and person which is nice to see.

    Cons

This isn't a CTMC con but rather a EVERY hospital con. At every hospital, besides physician, the next best thing are nurses. It seems nurses will always get the go ahead before ancillary departments. To be fair, nurses are the front line of the hospital, but it would be nice to see hospitals not just CTMC highlight other ancillary career opportunities in the hospital. I wouldn't say remove nurses from the pedestal where they stand, but rather elevate the ancillary departments to that level as well.

    Advice to Management

    Elevate ancillary departments.

I worked at Central Texas Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Tight knit group of dedicated Doctors, PAs, NPs, nurses and techs. Small community hospital with great overall management. Responsibilities for Techs high overall, with pay increasing to reflect the role.

    Cons

Pay was still not very high, a least while I was there, could be higher now.

I have been working at Central Texas Medical Center part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Honestly a great environment with amazing coworkers. Have had two really great bosses here who genuinely care about me and the work they do.

    Cons

I work PRN (as needed, I'm a student too). Management above my director tried to not give me a raise without warning, and this year are switching to a "flat rate" for PRN employees. I believe it is more money than part time or full time employees, but PRN employees also don't get health care or PDO/sick leave and cannot request vacation or too many days off during holidays.

Go for part time instead if possible.

    Advice to Management

    Stop being unfair?
