I have been working at Central Transport full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

Started as a Dockman, got my CDL, although I failed the Hazmat the first time but became a driver and kept learning and advancing and now I am a supervisor. My brother drives for one of the other big carriers and we pretty much have the same occasional headaches that come with work but overall I am thrilled to be where i am and doing what I do. It pays pretty well, I can't complain and I believe if you are serious about...

    Cons

Lot of hours, although I understand alot of that is due to the growth we have been going thru. From what I am seeing, it looks like we will continue to grow so I probably have some more long days ahead of me but I like what I do and i like who I do it for so it doesn't always feel like work.

    Advice to Management

They need to hire more people, as we keep getting busier, it seems we are always hiring 1 step behind the business levels.

    Pros

There are none they do not care about their employees no matter what your passion is

    Cons

The company is a joke from top down. Get ready to work for free, everybody that works in a terminal has to do it. No lie!!

    Advice to Management

Don't get comfortable they like the revolving door your time is limited

I worked at Central Transport full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is not a single thing good about this company. Stay away if you are smart. Go to the 100 other LTL companies.

    Cons

40/60 benefits for 300 a month. They will tell you that it's 9-10 hour shift. I've worked 17 regional and TM say that's it. No extra insensitive unless your about to quit. No control of your own operations you have to call corporate in Michigan. All of them are a joke none have been inside a terminal they just know a computer screen. They think telling you if you can't get the job done we will find someone who can is...

    Advice to Management

Shut it down. Maddy needs to retire already. Your company will fall to pieces when you lose Amazon because, your terminals are taking three days to get a trailer to break. Your all morons how the freight is still coming in is mind blowing. Just shut it down!!! Mutiny or Teamsters are on the way believe me.

I have been working at Central Transport full-time

    Pros

Competitive salary for a supervisory role if you negotiate properly. Also there are weekends off.

    Cons

Where should I begin? The micromanaging at this company is ridiculous. Supervisors and managers have little to no control over the operation. As a supervisor I am basically a dock worker who has to answer phone calls and check emails. Any idea I come up with to help the operation is not taken into to consideration. Everything is done through corporate so if you want to simply close out a trailer you have to call corporate...

    Advice to Management

Give some responsibility and power to your field operations management. Let the managers and supervisors at the terminals close their own trailers out. Give the employees the right tools to complete their tasks. Listen to what the employees are saying, they are the ones out there moving your freight.

I have been working at Central Transport

    Pros

Pay is great compared to other jobs in this industry

    Cons

Benefits lacking- no pay raises in the last 4 years. What they pay you in salary they take in benefit costs. Salary people clock in, and you are not paid for being salary.

    Advice to Management

Allow the people you pay to do what they are paid for.

    I worked at Central Transport

    Pros

If you do a good job, there is a lot of room for advancement with this company. As long as you talk to the right people. Fairly easy job and easy to learn if you don't mind the hours. Great place if your young, single and don't have kids.

    Cons

Benefits are awful, they don't pay for anything. Basically they take money from your check for no reason. You are better off getting it on your own. No chance of a pay increase unless you move up and they will try to get you to do that as cheap as possible. They don't tell you the hours up front that you will be working because if they did no one would work for the amount of money they offer. Not really a good place...

    Advice to Management

Do something about the benefits and just pay people a little more. This would solve a lot if their problems. They might be able to keep some really good employees.
